Entry 6 Calm

Well, it has been an interesting week so far. For some reason things seem to have slowed down in the magical world. Its like someone just flipped an switch off. I have barely been called out on assignment this week at all. It is worrisome. I mean considering how bat shit crazy every had been over the last few weeks. I know this is over done and used, but it is like the calm before the storm. I just hope that this storm is not a hurricane.

"JAKE! CAN YOU COME DOWN HERE?"

"COMING!"

I close my book and put it back in the drawer of my best. As I walk down the stairs, I can hear my mom rushing around in the kitchen. As I walk in I can see her icing some cupcakes in the on the kitchen table. She had flour all over her face and apron and her hair was sticking out at all odd angles. All and all, she looked like a hot mess.

"Dang mom," I say.

"Oh Jake, good you're here! I am so sorry Jake, I know this is is really short notice and that it is your day off but I really need your help with this order," She says without looking up from her cupcakes.

"Sure no problem mom. You can count on me! You look like you could use some Am drag help! What do you need me to do?"

"Well, at this moment I need you to load the deviled eggs and refreshments into the van," she says while pointing at the counter top where at least 20 dozen eggs were.

I sigh. 'Welp, lets roll up my sleeves and get to work.'

It took me about an hour to load everything into the van, and now I am helping my mom put the finishing touches to the cupcakes.

"Yo mom, how are you gonna fit all these cup cakes in your van? I don't think there will be enough room," I say.

"Well thats where you come in honey. You see, I have to at the location to start the set up. You will have to go with Lani in the second van with the cupcakes. I have to be there to monitor the setting up of the venue with the other staff. Lani and you will come with the rest of the materials," she says. "Thank you for helping me Jake. If it weren't for you I would not have been able to get the van ready."

"What are sons for?" I smile. "You should get going mom. I'll finish the rest of the cupcakes."

"Oh, you're right! I'll see you there later! Thanks sweetie! Lani will come by in about an hour or so!" She kisses me on the check and runs out there door.

I smile. Then I look down at the unfinished cupcakes. "You can do it Jake! Its just decorating little cakes. This is nothing compared to fighting pixies!"

"Are the plans complete?"

"Yes. Everything is in place. Now all we need is the undying support of the magical world."

"That shouldn't be to hard. They're a bunch of idiots that will follow anyone that promises them a good life."

"Excellent."

"Let us begin phase one. To Egypt."
