Hello! This starts out with terrible events but it's fluff so it all turns out okay. Trust me.

Shoulder to Cry On

All he could remember was a scream of pain and the feeling of running blindly towards the sound. He had felt so cold and afraid as he ran as fast as he could, tripping over rubble that lay strewn across the stone floor. He had reached the origin of the sound to find Rose, his Rose, sprawled on the ground covered in blood. Her blood. He knelt down beside her and scooped her limp body into his arms, holding onto her for dear life. He vaguely remembered that you weren't supposed to lift injured people but he didn't care. He picked her up and ran to the TARDIS as fast as his legs would carry him.

After a few seconds of fumbling with the key, he managed to get the door open. He flipped a few switches and sent them into the vortex. He carried her down to the med bay and laid her down on one of the tables. She was still unconscious as he cleaned out the gashes that ran across her stomach. He stitched her up carefully and made sure her breathing and heart rate were stable before checking her over for less serious injuries. She had hit her head pretty hard and would have a large bruise but other than that she seemed to be okay.

He sat in a chair next to the bed waiting for her to wake up. Slowly, she opened her eyes and tried to sit up. She winced in pain and decided to lie back down. He rolled his chair over to her and brushed the hair out of her face, his fingers softly brushing her cheek.

"Welcome back." He said with an attempt at a smile.

"Mmhm." Rose said tiredly.

"You were out for a while. I was scared you-you weren't-" He choked, his eyes burning with tears behind his dark glasses. He hugged her.

Rose wasn't sure what had happened. She remembered a lot of pain and then waking up in the med bay. She hugged him back and nuzzled her nose into his shoulder feeling quite comfortable despite her still painful stitches. He pulled back and stared at her, making sure she existed. Tears were rolling down his cheeks. Rose reached up to wipe them away.

"Doctor, what's wrong?" She asked quietly as he pulled her back into a hug.

He didn't answer but instead buried his face against her shoulder. She could feel him shaking slightly with silent tears. He was always so strong. Why was he so upset now? Everything was fine. She reached up to hold him there while she rubbed his back to comfort him.

"Shhh…it's okay. Everything's fine. I'm fine. Promise." She whispered soothingly.

"Rose, I thought you were going to-" He couldn't say it. He couldn't say the word 'die' in context with her name. He choked on his words.

"Shhh…" She held on to him as her tears fell too. "Look at us. We're ridiculous." She said with a half-hearted laugh as she pulled back to look at him.

"Yeah." He smiled.

"I-l love you." She said quietly.

He bent down to kiss her gently. She leaned into him and kissed him back just as softly.

"I love you too, Rose." He whispered into her hair. "Don't ever do that again."

"Do what?"

"Scare me like that. If you get hurt, if you- well, I don't know what I'd do." He said in a tone that made Rose shiver. He really cared about her.

"I won't." She promised as she kissed him again.

See? It ends up okay. But now you really want to press the review button because the review button wants you to. *cough cough*
