When M'gann hurries into the kitchen excitedly, Superboy gets up from his spot on the couch to join her. He's curious to see what has her smiling so much, and when he sees the package of what looks like unhealthy snack food in her hand, he's even more confused. "Why are you so happy?" he asks her. It comes out a little rough, but her smile doesn't falter. He's glad.

"Oh, Conner, my Uncle J'onn was eating these cookies earlier when I went to visit him, and I just had to try one. You'll never believe how good they are! I had to go right out and buy some," she explains to him. He glances down at the package skeptically. "Here, try one," M'gann opens them and offers it to him. Dutifully, he takes one, but he hesitates.

"They're black. Are you sure they're not burned?"

"Silly! It's just food coloring," she says as she takes one herself. With a shrug, he gives in and takes a bite.

"It's...good," he says, surprised. M'gann beams at him and he has to try not to smile back.

"And there are different ways to eat them, too! Ooh, I just love these cookies! Wait, I'll get the milk," M'gann is a flurry of excitement as she floats around the small kitchen, gathering the carton of milk and two glasses and even some napkins and setting it all down in front of him on the counter. It's weird, seeing someone so happy about something like cookies, but he guesses that's just how she is. It's nice, he finds himself thinking as M'gann telepathically sets down a few cookies on a napkin for him.

"What now?" He asks her.

"Well, now you dunk the cookie in the milk," she explains, smiling. "If you leave it in for a few seconds, it starts to get soggy, which sounds bad but it's actually not. This is my favorite," As she talks, she demonstrates. Superboy watches her, noticing how some of the crumbs stick to her red lips, how they turn up in joy, how they match her shining eyes. "Try it, Conner," she says just before dabbing at her mouth with a napkin. Superboy tries to focus on the food in front of him.

The first time, it tastes the same, just wet. The second time, half of it falls back into his glass of milk. M'gann just laughs as he snarls at the milk and reaches over to hold his hand as he dunks. She pulls it out for him and when he looks up, her cheeks are more red than green. Rather than say anything, he bites into the cookie. He's surprised by how good it tastes and it must show on his face because M'gann laughs again. "Didn't I tell you it was good?" He nods, mouth still full.

"Oh, and there's another way to eat them, too! This one doesn't involve milk, don't worry," she smiles at him again and he thinks it's with something like fondness, but he was never any good at feelings. "All you have to do is twist the cookie so it separates, and then you lick off the icing," she does it with ease as she talks, but when Superboy tries it, his cookie crumbles into pieces. He tries again with another, but he looks up mid-twist to see M'gann licking the icing and this time, the broken pieces end up halfway across the room. M'gann looks surprised and Superboy frowns at her in embarrassment. Then she untwists one of her own cookies and holds out a half for him to lick but when he glances up to glare at her, there's that smile again and he thinks that he kind of wants to kiss her. So he grabs her hand to move it out of the way and presses a kiss to her lips. They don't feel exactly like his but that's alright. When he pulls away, she's completely flushed, and Superboy is convinced red and green were meant to go together. She's halfway through her flustered ramble when he realizes he's still holding her hand and he decides to wait until she's finished before letting go.
