Chapter Thirty-three

Steve sat with his head in his hands. He was worried about his husband and child. He really wanted to be in the operating room and just hold his hand and watch. He waited for a few hours and just wanted some news. He had called the police and ambulance for Sam, but he didn't care if the young man died or not. In fact, he wished that he had snapped his neck before he left, but he needed to get Mike help.

His phone rang and he answered it. "Hello."

"Steve, did you hear any thing yet?" Kofi asked.

"No, not yet."

"Okay. We're on our way."

"We?"

"Hunter and I. John and Alex might come along. You know how close Mike and Alex are."

Steve was silent. "Thank you."

"No problem."

Steve hung up his phone and leaned back into his seat. His mind was solely on his husband and baby girl. He knew that he couldn't live without his Mike and he just barely got to know his baby.

"Mr. Austin?" a nurse called.

He looked up at her and began to stand.

She smiled at him. "Every thing went smoothly. Your husband and baby are doing just fine. Right now, he's in recovery and then we will move him to his own room."

Steve nodded.

"Once he recovers, he will need to be under complete bed-rest."

He nodded once more. "When will I be able to see him?"

"In about an hour."

"Thank you."

"You're very welcome."

He watched her leave and began to cry. He thanked the lord above for letting his Mike and baby live and he also cursed Sam for what he had done. He hoped that he'd rot in hell.

A detective came over. "Mr. Austin, I'm sorry to disturb you."

Steve looked up at him.

"I came by to let you know that we have Sam in custody. Right now, he's being looked to for the severity of his injuries. Could you tell me what happened?"

"I already told you want I knew. I came home and he was there, laying on the floor, beaten half to death. I found my husband in the back with a knife wound."

The detective nodded. "Mr. Austin, Sam has been saying that Mike attacked him."

Steve narrowed his eyes at the man. "That is a lie. I know Mike."

"And I know Sam."

The old wrestler stiffened up.

"He says that you two are having a relationship, which I know for a fact is a lie. Everyone knows that you have rebuffed him several times because of that young man on the operating table. He doesn't know that Mike is still alive and we're not going to tell him. Not just yet anyways."

Steve nodded.

"The doctor told me that your fiance—"

"Husband."

The detective nodded. "Husband has pulled through and will be able to talk to me tomorrow. Do you mind if I come back to get his statement?"

"No," Steve said.

The detective smiled. "You have a great night, Mr. Austin. Stay with your husband and congratulations on the baby."

Steve smiled and nodded. "Thank you."

He watched the man leave and he waited. When the time came, the nurse led him to Mike's room. The young man had his eyes closed.

"He should be sleeping," the nurse said. "We pulled the bed out of the couch for you."

"Thank you," Steve said. He went to his husband and took his hand into his own. "Baby boy, I love you...and I'm going to leave your side."

Alex and John were on a plane after Kofi told them what happened. The West African told him that Mike was fine and was resting, but Alex needed to see for himself. John did what his lover wanted. They packed a few bags, hopped onto John's private jet, and flew out.

"Kevin," John said as he grabbed his hand. "Mike's going to be okay."

Alex shook his head. "I need to see for myself. I need to be there for him."

"I know, baby." John wrapped an arm around his boyfriend. "I love you."

"I love you too."

Randy woke up to see Glenn sitting on the edge of their bed. He slowly sat up and stared at the older man. He could see how tense his shoulders were as he listened to whoever was on the phone.

Glenn hung up his phone and sat there and stared at nothing.

"Glenn," Randy said.

The bigger man turned his head to look at his lover. He had tears in his eyes.

"What happened?"

"It's Mike," Glenn said. "Hunter called me. Mike was attacked."

"What?"

Glenn nodded. "Some guy that has a hard on for Steve tried to kill Mike and the baby. Mike's at the hospital in surgery."

"No," Randy said.

"Hunter and Kofi are on their way over there to the hospital."

The Viper looked around the room. One of his friends was in trouble and he didn't know what he could do.

"Hunter, gave me temporary GM duties until he comes back. I have to let everyone know."

Randy nodded. "I'll call everyone to the lobby."

Glenn grabbed the younger man's hand.

"What's wrong, baby?" Randy asked.

"Mike was attacked."

Randy stared at him.

"They're operating on him and trying to save the baby."

"Oh, god. I'll tell everyone to meet in the lobby."

Glenn nodded and they got more clothes on before heading out.

Everyone gathered in the lobby. Some leaned on other people while they tried to stay awake. Others were wired and talked on their phones.

"Hey, Randy, why the message?" Evan asked as the couple walked up.

"Yeah, I was sleeping real good," Mark Henry said.

"Hey, guys, I know that it's late," Glenn said, "but I just got word from Hunter."

"Hunter came and got Kofi from my room and they left," Yoshi said.

"Hunter will be gone for about a week," Randy replied.

"He left me in charge. I will be acting as temporary GM," Glenn replied.

"What's going on?" Cody asked.

Glenn and Randy looked at each other.

"Mike was attacked tonight. He was stabbed and they're trying to save him and the baby," the Big Red Machine said.

Everyone erupted. The Divas were in tears while some tried to comfort them.

"We're going to try and keep everything as normal as possible," Glenn said.

"I will be making a care package once we find out Mike's condition if anyone wants to help," Randy said.

"I would," Evan said.

"So would I," Sheamus replied.

Everyone agreed and Randy smiled. He was glad that everyone could come together in times like this.
