Twelve:
He sat on the couch as Ben and Hermione discuss all the different things they have done. Ben, being who he was has heard of the Wizardry world and all that was hidden inside of it, years of history held back from the rest of the world, in order to protect themselves.
And here he was, sitting on the couch, listening to another one of Ben's stories about some random point in history that doesn't make sense because of blah, blah, blah. He almost regretted bringing his new girlfriend over to meet his friends for dinner. He knew that Hermione was aware of who he was and that he was friends with Ben, and that they were both nutters for history, but he should've thought about bringing her over here again before doing so.
He glanced over to Abigail, seeing her smirk at his discomfort, he quickly switched his gaze over to Patrick who was like a kid in a candy store. He was in awe of Hermione and all that she knew at her young age. Well, not that young, she was 23 to his 26. But she was still younger then Patrick, most everybody was.
"Well, it's getting late, we need to head out." He heard Hermione state, shaking him from his thoughts. YES! He cheered in his mind, standing up with her, following everyone out of the room. They were walking towards the door, he couldn't leave any faster.
"Are you sure you have to go? We could brew a pot of coffee and compare notes?" Abigail teased, her lips twisting in a full on smirk as he twitched.
"No, we should really be heading out." He replied, helping Hermione into her coat, grabbing his after, not even bothering to put it on. He grabbed the door knob and opened it. "We'll see you soon." He smiled, just happy to leave.
Hermione smiled, hugging his friends as they walked out the door. They walked to his car, opening the door for her, before hurrying over to his side. "Couldn't we have left any sooner?" He asked in a whisper, as he turned his car on.
"I'm sorry, wasn't it you who wanted me to meet your friends?" She asked, eyebrow raised as they drove away.
"Yes, but I forgot..."
"Forgot what?"
"That Ben would see how awesome you were with all you knowledge and try to keep you for himself, and that's just not fair to Abigail or me." He stated, turning onto to highway.
She laughed, grabbing his hand. "Riley, if I wanted to meet Ben. I could've done it without meeting you. But I met you for a reason."
"And what reason might that be?" He asked, smirking as he glanced over at his girlfriend.
"Because we're both side kicks." She reached over and kissed his cheek. "And side kicks are pretty awesome even without a hero."
