Just a little thing that was floating around in my head…enjoy! :)

Three Short Words

For once he would have liked to tell her he loved her. He really did. She was his best friend, his companion and the person he would love to share his forever with. She was everything from beautiful to clever, funny to selfish, compassionate to completely fantastic. She was his. His Rose. He wasn't sure why he couldn't tell her. It was only three words. Three very short words. Why was that so hard? Goodness knows he talks enough, it shouldn't be that complicated.

Maybe it was because he'd always pictured her rejecting him, pushing him away, ruining their friendship. Maybe it was because he didn't think she felt the same way. Maybe he was just being childish and stupid. Of all the things he could do as a Time Lord, he couldn't tell Rose Tyler he loved her. He couldn't admit that she was the most wonderful thing that had happened to him in a very long time and he couldn't tell her that she was undeniably in love with her.

There was just something about her that made it extremely hard not to stare in awe. It wasn't that she was pretty. Weeelll, she was the most beautiful person he'd ever seen but that's beside the point. He'd made up his mind. He was going to tell Rose Tyler that he loved her and he didn't care what happened.

Rose was sitting in the captain's chair flipping through a magazine. He walked in and sat next to her.

"Hello." He said, lacking his usual heir of energy.

"Hi!" She said, looking up at him and disregarding his lack of enthusiasm.

"I have to tell you something."

"What's wrong?" She said, examining his face and seeing fear in his eyes.

"Rose…I…I don't know how to say this but I have to…"

"Who died?" Rose asked, panic evident in her voice.

"No one. That's not…no, it's okay." He said reassuringly, taking her hand in his.

"Well what then?"

"Rose…I…I love you. There. I finally said that." He said, preparing to run away like he always did. He knew this would ruin everything. He's 900 years old and an alien, why would she love him?

Rose gaped at him. "What?" She said quietly.

"I understand if you want to leave. I don't blame you for hating me. I don't deserve-"

"Doctor." Rose said firmly, stopping him in his ramble before it got too chaotic. "Doctor, I love you too. You don't need to worry about me leaving. I'm never leaving. You're stuck with me forever. And I don't hate you. I love you. And you do deserve someone. You've lost so much; you've lost so many people. You deserve something happy in your life for once. And if I'm lucky enough to be the one to fill that gap, I am more than happy to do it."

He thought about what she was saying. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat but found that to be nearly impossible. Gentle tears rolled down his face. What had he done to deserve her? What had he done to deserve her love?

She looked up at him. "Doctor, what's wrong? I thought…I thought you would be happy."

"What did I do, Rose? What in the world did I do to deserve you?"

She reached up to stroke his cheek gently. "You didn't have to do anything. You couldn't get rid of me if you tried. I would've found you either way."

He leaned down to capture her lips with his in the most beautiful kiss either of them had ever experienced. She sighed gently against his lips, wrapping her arms around his neck. His fingertips traced down her spine coming to rest on her waist. He broke the kiss and looked down at her with an expression that could only be pure admiration.

"I couldn't get rid of you if I tried? Then how does the rest of forever sound, Miss Tyler?"

She beamed. "It sound's perfect."

I hope you liked it! Please review to save the world from impending doom! :D
