Note: This has been running through my head for the longest time, and I wrote it mostly because I was not able to focus on my other stories. I have now had it sitting on my desktop for a couple of weeks, and I was hoping to write more, but I decided I liked well enough as is and now I am posting it.

How Was That?

The sunlight of the early morning crept into the room, illuminating the interior. Two young men lay on their shared bed in the middle of the room, limbs entangled. One, Blaine, was awake, content to watch the other man, Kurt, sleep peacefully in his arms as he stroked his soft chestnut hair, something Kurt seldom allowed while he was awake. Kurt began to stir and Blaine pressed a kiss to his forehead. "Good morning, beautiful."

"Mmm," Kurt smiled and pressed his lips lightly to Blaine's. "Morning,"

Blaine closed his eyes lazily and grinned back. "I don't want to have to leave this bed."

"You are so lazy sometimes." His boyfriend scolded.

"No, I just never want to let go of you long enough to stand up." Kurt scoffed at this and pulled the sheets higher to cover his naked chest.

"So not lazy, just cheesy,"

"Hey!" he protested. "I thought that was romantic."

The other man responded curtly. "You thought wrong."

"Well, then I'll try again." He promised. "I love you."

Kurt smiled happily and snuggled closer to his boyfriend, entwining his fingers in the other man's unruly dark curls. "I love you too."

"Was that any better?"

"A little," Kurt assured him before deciding to mess with him some more. "But you are not quite there yet."

"Damn,"

"One step forward, two steps back, honey,"

"Well, how is this for romantic?" Blaine rolled over so his back was to Kurt and started rummaging around in the drawer of their bedside table.

"Uh… Blaine, what are you doing?"

"Hang on a minute," he demanded. Kurt waited as patiently as he could while his boyfriend dug through the drawer, muttering to himself in frustration. "I know I put here, where could it possibly have gone? Oh, wait, here it is."

"Blaine?"

The dark haired man rolled back over and propped himself up on one elbow so he was looking down at Kurt. In his other hand he was clutching something small, but Kurt could not tell what it was.

"Kurt, I have loved you since you tapped me on the shoulder on that staircase seven years ago and I never stopped. I know we've had our ups and downs and whatnot, but I truly believe all the hard times have done nothing but make us stronger. I love you more than anything in this world or the next and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with you. I know we're still young and all, and I will wait as long as you want, but," he paused, taking a deep breath and opening his hand to reveal a simple gold ring. "Kurt Hummel, will you marry me?"

Kurt blinked a few times trying to make sure this was real. He had one too many perfect dreams about this moment before being woken up by his alarm. But that did not seem to be happening this time.

"Yes!" he threw his arms back around Blaine and kissed him soundly. "Of course I'll marry you!"

Blaine slipped the ring on his boyfriend—fiancé's—finger and smiled at him happily. "I love you."

"I love you, too."

"Hey, Kurt?"

"Yeah?"

"How was that for romance?"

He laughed. "Excellent,"
