Hello all, I wanted to thank everyone who's been subscribed and following this fic even after the longest spans between updates. I'm sorry, but I don't think I can keep writing for this anymore. I've lost all passion I've had for this story. Reading back on it, there's a lot of writing style choices I don't agree with anymore, and there's too many bogging it down. That and I don't feel like doing this "write the canon again but with Luke and Ion in it", and I haven't found ways to deviate from it too much.

However, I've had a lot of ideas, and I think for everyone who had a little bit of investment would enjoy I reveal them. I will list them below, but I wanted to thank everyone again, who stuck by this and read this (and maybe reading it for the first time? bad idea, sorry!). It made me pretty happy every time I received any comments and feedback.

I'm going to split this up between the general storyline, and then backstory.

- The Chosen's group infiltrate the Asgard Human Ranch. Kvar sets Luke on them, whose mana is starting to go out of control. Like with what Sheena saw, he keeps manifesting angel wings. Lloyd tries to approach him, along with Ion, but is only calmed down when Ion presses a tuning fork against his exsphere. They escape with Luke's unconscious body. At this point, Kvar doesn't think the regular key crest bracelets will stop Luke's transformation and lets them go, hoping it would stress him out more and speed up the process. Ion stays with Luke in the Luin ruins while the others do the Pietro quest and go back to infiltrate the Human Ranch again.

- Luke keeps having dreams of conversations with Ion that he doesn't remember. They keep mentioning a Yulia. He wakes up just in time for everyone to return. Lloyd is super relieved and they hug it out while Lloyd updates Luke on what's been happening so far, and what's happening to Colette. Luke realizes the same thing's happening to him, but when Lloyd brings up his angel wings when they had to fight him, Luke claims Kvar was trying to make a mockery of Colette. He tells Lloyd it was probably the results of what Kvar did to force him to blow up Luin (which is technically true). Ion interrupts before Lloyd can pull the hot-cold-hot coffee trick on Luke.

- When Rodyle takes all of Kvar's files for Angelus, he takes interest new L-series files, remarking that it's a pretty fascinating Mana Cannon alternative.

- Corrine keeps asking Luke about how he was born, and confides with Sheena that Luke smells like him but can't understand why or how.

- After clearing Tower of Mana, Lloyd's suspicions are confirmed when Luke suddenly and "coincidentally" loses his voice. No one knows what to do with the idea that Luke is becoming an angel with Colette. Kratos suggests there must be other ways to become an angel, since Remiel is clearly not a Chosen but is an angel. They all accept that idea, and hope that Colette and Luke both regain their senses since Remiel seems to have his.

- Undine pays special attention to Luke when they find and fight her, but does not remark on it. Corrine adds this to his mental conspiracy board. Luke fully learns Revitalize, and the words to the song he heard when Colette released the water seal.

- The night before leaving for the Tower of Salvation, Luke and Lloyd's conversation is about the future. They're both apprehensive about what will happen to their relationship when Luke becomes a full fledged angel since they both agree that Remiel is kind of a dick. Luke promises to take the Dwarven Vows with him to the other angels because that really is the best way to live, even if all the phrases are corny. Lloyd's conversation with Ion is more serious. Lloyd noticed Ion has been pretty antsy and even frustrated. Ion admits it's because of Luke's condition, and worries that the destruction of Luin had a bigger impact on Luke than he lets on. Lloyd agrees and confesses he's afraid of drifting apart from Luke because of the angel transformation. Ion promises he'll be there for Luke because Luke is very important to him. Lloyd is surprised by Ion's conviction and wonders to himself why Ion was so intense just now.

- Lloyd rides with Genis to the Tower of Salvation. Genis brings up that Raine has been acting strange and distant lately. Lloyd can relate; he feels like Luke's beginning to close himself off. They decide to be better siblings when Sylvarant is regenerated so they can deal with the Tethe'alla situation better. Meanwhile, Luke rides with Ion, who promises to tell Luke everything about Lorelei when Luke can speak again.

- When all the kids learn the truth about Colette sacrificing herself to regenerate the world, and demand to know what will happen to Luke and the two worlds, Remiel improvises that it'll be Luke's job to bring peace to the two, as that is Colette's wish. Ion calls bullshit while Lloyd begs Colette not to die. Colette and Luke both accept their fates, and tell the group such and complete their transformation before Lloyd or Ion could interrupt.

- Ion uses Akashic Torment (or that Daathic fonic art from the cheagle woods, i'm pretty sure it's the same thing) on Remiel, defeating him at the expense of incapacitating himself. Kratos reveals himself and proceeds to beat the crap out of the party. When Yggdrasil enters, Luke suddenly snaps out of his soulless stupor and attacks him, but is alas Yggdrasil swiftly kicks his ass too. Botta arrives to take everyone.

- While everyone goes over what just happened, Luke has no clue how or why he's recovered himself but Colette's still a zombie. He presses Ion for information on Lorelei since that's a possible explanation. Ion reveals that he's a lot older than he looks and that he was supposed to protect Lorelei, and failed. He doesn't know why Luke's still Luke but Colette's still empty. Raine theorizes that Luke's exsphere is a kind of Cruxis Crystal but milder, and they all go with that.

- blah blah blah tethe'alla. looser ideas from here on out because lol what are timeline of events?

- Ion, Genis, and Raine are arrested for half-elf crimes. Much racism. Because of the scene in Asgard earlier when Ion revealed he was quarter-elf, Genis and Raine are less surprised that Lloyd would accept them so easily, but feel still feel guilty for hiding it for so long.

- Luke finds a portrait of a man who looks just like him before he left Iselia in Zelos' attic. Zelos tells him that the man is Lorelei fon Fabre, a very distant relative of the Wilders. Lorelei in particular is noteworthy to Zelos because he accompanied Tethe'alla's previous Chosen, Yulia Jue.

- Luke and Colette commiserate on being angels together. Colette lets it slip that she's growing scales and makes Luke promise not to tell anyone since there's a lot going on and reassures him that their cruxis crystals are different so it's probably just hers. It doesn't help at all, but Colette pulls the "Lloyd would suffer a lot if he knew and get reckless" card and Luke concedes.

- Corrine realizes that Luke has the same kind of composition as him, Undine, and Volt, and that Luke must be some sort of summon spirit. Then Volt zaps him :( Luke learns more spells and song lyrics as Sheena forms more pacts with summon spirits. He also starts dreaming of Yulia Jue. Unlike Corrine, he can't piece together why.

- Ion and Mithos are suspicious of each other, but with no evidence on either side, settle on being politely passive aggressive

- Rodyle reveals that Luke is a replica of Lorelei fon Fabre, the 14th of the 3rd batch. Kvar saved Lorelei's DNA when Yulia Jue regenerated Tethe'alla, and made a bunch of artificial babies to harvest Lorelei's unique mana. He would plant the same exsphere on a new baby when the previous host died. A renegade working undercover with Kvar grew disgusted with the project and took Luke while Kvar was distracted with project Angelus going missing.

- Ion eventually reveals that he's the reincarnation of a half-elf named Dorion Albert, who traveled with Lorelei and Yulia. Dorion watched Cruxis kill Lorelei after Yulia regenerated Tethe'alla, and was killed himself. He retained all memories and offers to tell Luke everything, but Luke is okay with not knowing all the details because he's Luke Irving now, not Lorelei fon Fabre, and that he traveled and made friends with Ion Freyer, not Dorion Albert

- When Yuan reveals that Kratos is Lloyd's biological father, he also reveals that the renegade who took Luke from the human ranch passed him over to Kratos and Anna, who agreed to raise Luke with their new baby Lloyd (they did not waste time lol), making Kratos Luke's adoptive father.

- When they finally regrow the Linkite tree and summon Aska, Luke feels a special connection to the Linkite tree.

- Lloyd and Luke have a moment in Flanoir about their messy family ties. But through and through, they remained brothers. They talk about the meaning of birth, and conclude that it's what one makes of it rather than fate or destiny. Lloyd receives a crudely carved cheagle charm from Luke as proof of their bond, as it was the only think Luke ever carved, under Lloyd's guidance when they were small.

- since the anime adaptation had its cake and ate it too, I wanted to too. Bonus Kratos conversation with Lloyd that Luke eavesdrops on. Luke confronts Kratos and they have words, probably about what a bad dad Kratos is, all of his regrets, his wish that he could have been there for his family, etc. Kratos emphasizes that he'll do what he can to pave the road to the future that Luke and Lloyd want. Luke becomes distraught as Kratos leaves, realizing that Kratos does plan on releasing Origin's seal sooner or later.

- for the Flanoir followup in Heimdall, Luke and Lloyd have a little cry over losing Kratos again, and how it's weird that they're crying over him after everything he's put them through. They finally wonder what Dirk would do to Kratos if he knew everything at that very moment and laugh cry over their made up scenario.

- Origin reveals that he called upon different worlds yadda yadda for a summon spirit who wasn't bound to Mithos to help release him. Lorelei was the one who answered his call, but had to be born in a mortal vessel as no one's power was enough to have him be a spirit immediately. Suddenly Corrine and the Linkite tree make sense to Luke.

-The torture Lloyd by slowly picking off his party members one by one sequence where there is something oddly specific to their powers thing I have no clue what i would have wrote for. Zelos lives because cake is good.

- ?

- Luke goes with Lloyd on the exsphere quest because he doesn't want/have to jump into summon spirit duties right away

Anyway some backstory time

Origins of different worlds wanted to help this Origin, so a call was made out to find extra summon spirits to integrate into Aselia. A Lorelei would end up answering the call, but was having trouble entering, so another call was made out to find a helper. Abyss' Ion's soul would end up travelling across worlds to help out Lorelei because that's just what he does I guess. They're born as Lorelei fon Fabre and Dorion Albert in Tethe'alla. The Fabre family is closely related to the Wilder family, which is why Lorelei's portrait would be in Zelos' attic. Dorion's father would be Lorelei's sword master, and a young woman, a Yulia Jue naturally born to Aselia becomes the Chosen of Regeneration. Lorelei, Dorion, and Yulia travel together, and Lorelei and Yulia become close. Dorion, who retained all of his memories as Ion and the duty that brought him to Aselia, suggests to make a pact between them so they can something something that sounds romantic but really is to bind Lorelei to Aselia. They'd end up writing the Grand Fonic Hymn together.

The fatal flaw in the plan however, was not passing on the knowledge of what Cruxis was doing to the Chosens. At the Tower of Mana, Yulia dies to regenerate Tethe'alla, while Lorelei and Dorion are taken prisoner by Cruxis for Lorelei's weird mana signature and Dorion's refusal to join. Helpless, Dorion has to watch as Cruxis experiments on Lorelei, and his spirit ends up trapped in an exsphere for a longass time. Dorion eventually dies as well, but Ion's spirit waits in the void for Lorelei to re-emerge.

Eventually, Kvar finds Lorelei's exsphere and dna samples, and makes it a side project. The baby that would end up becoming Luke only survived because Abyss Luke's soul ended up following the trail Ion's left, as he desired to see Ion again. When he is eventually freed from the Human Ranch as a baby, Ion finally gets the signal, but waits before reincarnating since there was no guarantee baby Luke would survive. He chooses to reincarnate as a quarter-elf, since his body would be stronger and also the racism.

I think that was it. Again, thanks for reading and for being patient over all these years. I won't be opposed to talking about it more, but I don't think I am willing to put the story up for adoption. You can ask for a blessing to use the story as inspiration though. (12/14/19)
