He watches in fascination as the blonde trembles and cries as her niece attempts to soothe her. He hasn't had a real family in a very long time, but he remembers enough to know that it should be the other way around.

"I don't—I never…I don't want to be a vampire, Elena," she says in between sobs and hiccups. Her skin is pale, even in the firelight, and her eyes have lost all color. "Your mom said they were evil…that they killed. I don't want to be like that. I can't."

"You don't have to kill, Jenna," Elena's saying. "You can feed of blood bags from a hospital. Vampires don't have to be evil, it's a choice."

Klaus contemplates Elena's words. Is he evil? Most definitely. Did he have a choice? In all honesty, he doesn't know. He doesn't say that to the girls, however. It doesn't matter. They seem to have missed the meaning of the word sacrifice.

But then Jenna says the words that change all of his plans. "But I don't want to live forever. I don't know what I would do with that much time!"

An unexpected grin breaks out on Klaus's face.

He turns to Greta. "Bring Katerina—there's been a change of plans."

There's a lot that can be done when one has forever. Maybe he'll have to show her. Who knows…it could be fun.
