F.A.Q

1. Please tell me there's more to this story.

Nope. It's a one-shot. I believe that if I were to continue with it, the feel of the story would be ruined. I'm sorry.

2. The thing with Carlisle disgusted me. You inferred something sexual with them with Esme's acceptance and while he's still with Edward.

Okay, this is not really a question, but it was an erroneous statement that I just had to correct. Since not everyone leaves a review, I have no way of knowing if this is a common misconception or not. So, to make sure that it isn't, I want to clear things up.

That scene with Carlisle and Harry — don't read anything into it. It's exactly as it appears, family bonding and comfort. Said comfort did not come with sex, the cuddling was not the post-coital, nude kind, but the kind were the party in need of comfort is cocooned with one too many blankets and the comforter is cuddling them on top of that.

And that whole bit with Esme's acceptance: I was under the impression that vampire's are possessive over their mates — didn't Victoria go crazy over Edward killing James? Wasn't Edward a downright stalker throughout the books? So I figured that even contact with another that could potentially be attracted to the mate would set a vampire off. I wanted to show that Esme has some common sense and that she realizes that Harry thinks of them as his parental figures — and not the Oedipus/Electra kind. Esme, following the pattern of possessive vampires, should have yanked Harry away from Carlisle and thrown some sort of hissy fit over their closeness, but she didn't. Harry, in her mind, is her child. If Edward hadn't gone off and found Bella, they would have eventually married and then Harry really would be Esme's child. Esme doesn't accept Bella (in here), and so still considers Harry her child. Because she feels all this righteous anger for him (who's slowly falling apart from the inside out, think of the LotR elves fading away) she accepts this closeness because all it is, is Carlisle trying to extend Harry's life on this earth by just a bit more. Of course, his presence isn't enough and so Harry has to return home to heal (like the elves have to go to their home to heal).

To sum up the above paragraphs: Harry and Carlisle did NOT have naked time. They are all fully clothed and indulging in some of that "You were too good for that ass. Forget about him. Move on. Would you like some more Ben & Jerry's?" comforting.
