The funeral music plays. I stand and lead the procession to the cars. I robotically walk forward until I reach the car.

The driver looks grim. He apologizes for my loss. Silly boy. When will they learn that loss is part of life?

We drive in silence to the cemetery. The priest speaks his last words, and one by one people leave.

I am left at the gravesite, waiting for some sign. The sun peeks out of the clouds. I look down at the fresh graves and think of all the memories I had of my parents. I don't understand why it happened now. I slowly sink to the ground and watch the tears hit the ground.

Suddenly a voice rings out from behind me. "I came as soon as I could."

I turn to find a blonde boy staring at me through the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. I attempt to smile but it doesn't look right. He takes a step forward.

"I wish I'd been here for you. It's not right that you had to go through this alone."

I shake my head as the tears fall faster. Finally, I speak up. "Why – them..?"

No answer comes. I check to make sure he's still there. He slowly makes his way closer. "I'm sorry… I'm so, so sorry," he cries. "If only I'd been here."

I stand and move towards him. The distance between us grows smaller before I fall into his arms crying.

"Why? Why Roxas? They didn't deserve this. It should have been me. It should have–"

He quiets me. I continue to cry into his jacket. Slowly I fade to the darkness. The last thing I hear from him before I lose consciousness is his whisper…

"Naminé…"
