So...I wasn't going to make this a multi-chaptered fic. And I guess it's really not. More just a look into the quagmire of a relationship between one of my favorite pairing. So yeah...sue me. xD Thank you to everyone who reviewed Five minutes!

The Party.
I watched him watching us from across the room. The crowded dojo was loud and obnoxious with guests for Tyson's birthday party, and yet I could practically hear his teeth grinding together over there. He was pissed, seething, and unable to do a damn thing about it. If I wasn't playing up the hug for everyone else's benefit, the expression on Rei's face would've made me laugh out loud.
From the day Kai and I came out about our relationship I knew Rei disliked me. It was hard to ignore really. Though the guy had never been outwardly rude to my face before now despite his obvious discomfort around Bryan, the stiff politeness turned to blatant disrespect and loathing after that day. Little things gave him away; a missed greeting when the two of us would come over, a snide remark about my appearance or attitude there.
Everyone else, including Kai, was mostly oblivious to it. I had a feeling that Max and Tyson suspected their teammate's jealousy, but they were too happy for Kai to say anything. The other teams weren't around us to even know either way. After all, Rei hadn't even come out of the closet yet, which wasn't surprising considering where he grew up. He wouldn't jeopardize his relationship to all of his little friends and not have a significant other there to help take the fall. That's probably the other reason the tiger was so tense. After this long longing for my lover from afar, the poor guy was probably horny as fuck.
Then, as if to place the last bit of icing on the proverbial cake, I saw the Bladebreakers resident cheerleader Hilary walk over to Rei, follow his gaze, and practically swoon at the intimate position Kai and I were in over by the door. Though I couldn't hear her words directly, she leaned over and said something to Rei along the lines of-
"They're so cute! Never woulda pictured Kai as the touchy feely type."
Amber eyes met mine and I grinned; we both knew the truth. Rei was well aware for my aversion to emotion, and also knew full well that I was taking only the physical part of "loving" Kai seriously. This was where the jealousy, the anger, and the protective ire in him came out the strongest. Because, while he knew I was using Kai, we both knew that Kai would never forgive Rei if he tried to drive me away, which meant our Kitty cat was completely powerless to stop me.
I only closed my eyes and smiled into Kai's hair, which smelled fantastic, and resisted the urge to hijack Tyson's bedroom upstairs to take care of my unfolding problem down south. Sanitary concerns, as well as the very real possibility that Rei might decide to interrupt us out of spite, kept us in the fray of the party. I think the responding tension from Kai, who wanted something along those exact lines, just made Rei stew even more.
