Chapter 15: The Final Battle

-The Dark Ocean-

Mimi's eyes suddenly flickered open. The ground was cool and damp beneath her and for a few moments she couldn't remember where she was. When she looked up and say the grey outline of a beach covered by a thick layer of fog all the memories came flooding back.

"The Dark Ocean" Mimi whispered to herself.

This lifeless and almost hopeless world seemed more dark and lonely than last time. Mimi began to be afraid for the thought of spending eternity here made her heart sink. She missed Joe so much and wished he could save her.

She wanted to give up and cry. There was no way out of this place! Daemon controlled the portals so none of her powers could save her now. Daemon's words suddenly came flooding back to her mind."To seal my victory I must banish the barrier of light for then darkness will triumph. Also the one that has a pure heart for she has the power to seal my power. Finally the one that trusts in love for I know without it all other things are useless."

"Sora! Kari!" Mimi's heart suddenly was filled with hope of the thought of maybe finding her friends here again.

Mimi began walking down the beach in search of the barriers of light and love.

The ground was damp and soft. Sora tried to open her eyes but all she could see was darkness.

"Is this a dream?" She thought to herself. "It must be or why else is there no light?!"

The air around her was becoming cool and suddenly she began to feel hopeless. The darkness inside her heart was beginning to take over her like when they were battling the dark masters. She had to save the world! She promised Tai she'd never leave him!

Darkness began to consume the red haired girl as she fell further into her despair. Daemon's words kept ringing in her ears. "The one that trusts in love for I know without it all other things are useless."

"It was foolish to trust in love for without it the others I can't win!" Sora began to sob as she thought of the others. She thought of Tai who she loved so much! Mimi her best friend! Kari and TK who were like her little brother and sister! The other digidestin who had become like family to her on all their adventures to the digital world! Her parents who at first didn't quite understand her but they supporter her in whatever she did.

She was so down in her thoughts that she didn't even notice the cave forming around her. It was just like the time when she went looking for Matt, Mimi and Joe. The Dark Ocean was fueling her depression as she fell deeper and deeper into darkness.

"Sora! Sora!" It almost seemed like a faint whisper at first. The sound of someone calling her name almost seemed strange in this hopeless place but as Sora began to become more aware she realized that the voice belonged to someone she knew. It was Mimi!

"Mimi I'm over here." Sora said in a whisper at first but as she began to be filled with love and hope again her voice became louder. The darkness around her began to fade. In its place she saw the outline of a beach but it was grey covered with a thick layer of fog. Then she saw her best friend running towards her! The two girls hugged!

"Oh Sora I'm so glad I found you" cried Mimi

"I thought I was stuck in this awful place alone"

"We gotta find Kari!" Mimi said with concern.

"What Kari's here too?" Sora said with a confused but worried look on her face.

"Yes and I believe she is the only other person that's been sent her with us, besides she knows this place better than any of us."

Sora nodded in agreement and the two friends set out to find the barrier of light.

Kari's eyes opened in a flash. At first she couldn't see a thing but all too soon the outline of a dark beach covered in fog met her gaze.

"The Dark Ocean" she whispered to herself

It was the place she feared the most, the place that haunted her nightmares. It was the place were she felt the most weak because it was so dark. Kari Kamiya was becoming filled with darkness.

The darkness began to surround the barrier of light as her hope began to fade.

"Tai" she whispered

The name of her beloved boyfriend TK could barely escape her lips. She thought of the only time she'd ever been here and how he had come to rescue her. How she wished that he could do that again. Her eyes began to grow dark.

Kari's mind began to fill with memories of her previous experience in the Dark Ocean. She could almost hear the Scubamon chanting her name; wanting her to become their queen. They were coming for her again but this time TK was no where in sight.

The brown haired girl sat down and curled up, covering her face. The darkness began to surround the barrier of light as the Dark Ocean began to drain her of her hope.

Just as she thought all hope was lost, Kari began to hear voices. At first it seemed like her mind was playing tricks on her. This place had a way of driving people crazy but then it came again this time louder. The voices were female and seemed familiar but she couldn't quite distinguish them until they called again. It was Sora and Mimi!

At first Kari could only let out a whisper but as she began to fill with hope the darkness began to fade away and she was able to speak louder.

"Mimi, Sora I'm over here!" She cried. A few minutes later she heard them respond.

As her hope grew, the darkness was fading as her inner light was pouring forth. The hope of not being here alone brought back the light. Suddenly, the darkness disappear and the familiar outline of a grey beach took its place. She then say the two older girls running towards her. She got up and ran towards them and the three friends embraced in a hug.

"We have find a way out of here." Mimi said

Kari and Sora nodded in agreement "How though?" Sora asked for she was the only one of the three who had never been to this place before hand.

"I'm not sure but we need to find one quickly! The others are counting on us." Mimi and Sora nodded in agreement to Kari's statement as they began to think of a way to escape.

-Tokyo Tower-

Daemon continued to laugh as the remaining digidestined looked stunned.

"Foolish children did you really think you could defeat the me so easily? I'm unstoppable now!"

The digidestined didn't know what to think because they knew they were the strongest when they were a team.

"It's hopeless!" Cody cried. "How are we suppose to defeat him without the others?"

"Don't give up Cody! We can't let the power of darkness win!" TK said while glaring at Daemon

Daemon just laughed at the barrier of hope. "Foolish child! Don't you know without light there is no hope. Your powers are useless without your precious girlfriend!"

TK looked at Daemon. His face red and his fists were clenched.

"How dare you allow the powers of darkness into this world? How dare you let them take my light away from me!"

Daemon just stared at the blond haired boy and laughed. "It seems like my revenge is almost complete but first I must make you all suffer."

Daemon flew the digidestined and attacked "Evil flapping." Suddenly a large wall of flames began to engulf the city.

TK looked at him with pure hatred. He would never believe darkness would win. A beam of light began to surround his body and shot into the sky. Daemon stared at him startled, wondering how the barrier of hope still have light inside of him.

-The Dark Ocean-

"We gotta help the others" Mimi cried but how she felt so useless

"Don't lose hope Meems. If we do then surely darkness will win" Kari placed her hand on the shoulder of her friend and tried to give her a weak smile

"If we work together there must be a way out of this place." Sora said reassuring her two friends

"Maybe if we combine the power of our crests together it will be enough to free us."

Mimi and Sora nodded. Desperate they were willing to do anything to escape this dreaded place.

- Tokyo Tower -

Daemon sneered at the remaining digidestin as they stared at him with pure hatred. His plan had worked, for he was able to crush them by removing the key parts of there team. He found there weakness. He would finally win.

"Daemon!" Tai shouted. "Your an idiot if you think you have fun without a fight" The barrier of courage rushed towards Daemon with WareGreymon by his side.

"Tai is right! We can't give up. If we lose our hope then the darkness will win." The barrier of hope began after Tai

"I can't let my friends stand and fight alone! You took the girl I love from me Daemon. That's unforgivable!" The barrier of reliability rushed towards the demon king as well.

Daemon stepped back astonished that the digidestin still had the willingness to fight him. His astonishment quickly turned to glee, however, for what fun was it if he did not crush them one by one.

"Haha! Foolish children you can never defeat me. I am the king of darkness. There is no more light here that can save you!"

"Your wrong Daemon!" TK shouted back at him

"Light and darkness are connected for where you find one, you also find the other and the stronger the light, the deeper the darkness. I will never lose the light inside of me because that is my hope. If I lose that, darkness will consume me. Although you may try to hide this light, you will never win. For as long as I keep on trusting in my hope, light will triumph over darkness!"

- The Dark Ocean -

Mimi, Sora and Kari grabbed each others hands and thought about the power of their crests.

Mimi thought about how her time in the Digital world had taught her to treat people with sincerity and not be so shallow. Her time with Joe especially taught her about how to be compassionate towards everyone.

Sora thought about how she truly learned to love through her adventures. She always believed that her mother never loved her or understood her but she came to realize that she always had. Tai also deepened her understanding of love as he cared for unconditionally and showed her what it meant to be selfless.

Kari thought about how she wanted the world to be at peace. She thought of Tk and how he hated the powers of darkness but still managed to hope no matter how tough times got.

Light began to swirl around the girls and shot into the sky. To their amazement they saw the portal open and saw Tokyo. They began to be lifted and and the outline of the Dark Ocean began to fade until it was completely unseen beneath the fog.

- Tokyo Tower -

"Foolish digidestin. It is impossible to win if you are not all together!" Daemon laughed

Suddenly a light began to swirl in the sky above the digidestin. Daemon looked up shocked by what he saw but the barriers of light, love and purity were appearing before him.

"Impossible! How did you escape the Dark Ocean? Nothing is more powerful than darkness!" Daemon said with a shutter

"You're wrong Daemon! Where there is darkness there is also light and the stronger the darkness the stronger the light!" Kari said back to him.

"You will never be able to defeat us as long as we have hope and each other because that's what makes us strong! Our crests are what make us powerful even powerful enough to over come the powers of darkness which are found in the likes of you!" TK shouted back him while embracing his girlfriend once again.

Daemon did not know what to do. He was shrinking back into the shadows as he now uncertain of his victory.

"Now's our chance to strike! Digidestin attack!" shouted Tai

All the digimon combined their most powerful attacks together to strike Daemon. He tried to fight back with a Evil Wing but he could hold back the power of the digidestin's attack. The demon king let out one last laugh before turning into a million pieces of data. The darkness and flames that engulfed the city vanished. Tokyo was once again saved from the power of darkness by the digidestin.
