Please be okay. Max's eyes filled with tears as she stared at Fang's bloody and badly bruised face. Her mother walked into the room with concern written all over her face. "Mom, will he be okay?" She asked worriedly. "Honey, I don't know what to say. Fang is in a coma for now. There isn't anything I can do. We just have to wait and see." Dr. Martinez rubbed Max's back in a comforting way and slowly left the hospital room to give her some space. The thought of … losing Fang was indescribable. Max looked down again at Fang and it felt as if a dagger went straight through her heart. Tears began to fall once again, stinging the cuts covering Max's face.
It had only been hours since the explosion. While Fang, Max, and the flock were out on another CSM mission to shut down some crazy Doomsday group department they had been attacked. She knew it was her fault. She should've realized the explosives underneath them. If she had maybe the flock wouldn't be in such bad shape. She wouldn't have to see Fang like this. After staring at Fang for a while, grasping his hand, Max began to remember her time at the dreaded School, when she and Fang were only twelve.

ZAP. Pain coursed through my veins after being shocked by my wristband. It had been the tenth obstacle course of the day and I was beginning to slow down. I guess those cold-blooded white coats didn't like that. Every time I stopped inside of the maze I would feel a jolt of electricity.
After a series of unpleasant tests I was thrown into my dog cage, yes you heard me right, dog cage. I scooted into the back corner of the cage, brought my knees up to my chin, and began to sob. My tearfest was interrupted by a voice in the cage next to mine. "Hey, don't cry. Just relax, you'll be fine." I turned to my right and spotted another dog cage a little bigger than mine. Inside there was a boy about the same age as me, also with wings (his were black, mine were white and brown). He was so gorgeous. His eyes were a deep brown with small hints of gold, his beautiful olive complexion was marked with small scars, and his long black hair rested slightly over his left eye. I felt my heart pound as he continued to speak to me soothingly. Finally I had someone just like me. I wasn't the only freak on this planet, I wasn't alone. It was the most pleasant feeling I had ever experienced in my miserable life.

Max began to cry at the thought of this memory. Fang had been there for her, he had made her life worth living. She didn't know what she would do without him. A world without Fang was not worth living in. She needed him more than the air she breathed, more than the earth she lived on. He was her everything. "Fang, I love you." She whispered. Slowly the monitor near the hospital bed began to beep quicker and Max's eyes lit up, full of hope.
Gradually, Fang began to open his eyes. Max was unable to control herself and started to weep loudly. "Oh Fang! I was so worried. Never do that to me again!" She screamed. "Max, don't cry. Just relax, you'll be fine." He repeated the words he used to calm her so many years ago inside of the school. He laughed a little and brought his hand up to Max's cheek. " And I want you to know, I love you too." He chuckled weakly at Max. Max smiled and suddenly pressed her lips on Fang's. She knew at that moment that Fang was there with her, that they belonged together.
