Ideas for revenge

"So, what's your ideas for payback then, Sirius?" Al asks, looking hopeful.

"Hmm" Sirius thinks, staring at the peeling wallpaper blankly in thought.

James gasps suddenly. "I know an amazing hex spell"

Al frowns. "No hex spells" He states firmly. James frowns back at him, looking like he got told he can't have dessert for the rest of his life.

Noticing his disappointment, Sirius quickly asks James what the spell does.

"It's awesome." James answers him. " Basically it-" He gets cut off by Teddy running into the room.

"Sirius!" Teddy hisses, looking panicked. Sirius looks startled, staring at his only remaining best friend's son.

"What is it? Has Voldemort found out? Are we under attack?" Sirius asks in a frenzy. James and Al look alarmed, both prepared to jump into action.

"No." Teddy says slightly sharp, impatient. "Dad asked for you"

Teddy doesn't even wait for Sirius to follow. He speed-walks out the room, heading straight for the stairs.

James and Al stare after him, startled. "Shou... should we go after them?" Al stammers. James stares blankly after them for a few seconds, then shakes his head. Al opens his mouth to argue but James intercepts him.

"Best not to crowd him." James states firmly. "Look." He points to the window. Al looks where his brother is pointing, gaze falling onto the nearly full moon.

"Oh." Al says a pregnant pause later. He doubletakes. "Wait... the moon. When did it become night?" He says loudly, shocked.

James, slightly startled in realization, looks around the room searching for a clock. His eyes settle eventually locating one. "Huh, its midnight."

"Oh, guess we should go the bed. Wait where do we sleep?"

"We're sharing with our parents, Aunt Hermione and Uncle Ron." James tell him, distractingly.

"Oh, okay." Al stands up, going to go to bed.

"I thought we were brainstorming for prank ideas?" James asks suddenly.

"Oh yeah. Got any ideas?" Al asks, eyes bright. James grins. "That isn't hexing my best friend." Al says quickly, recognizing the look on his brother's face.

James frowns. "You're no fun." He says, sulking.

Al chuckles. "Any other ideas?" He asks, emphasizing the word 'other'.

James perks up, deep in thought. He jumps up in chair, smiling brightly. If James was a cartoon, he would have had a light bulb over his head. Al stares at his brother, half-afraid and half-eager.

"So?" Al questions.

"I don't want to brag, brother dearest, but I think this is the best revenge plan I ever thought of."

"When have you ever had a revenge plan?"

"Shut. Up." James growls. Al grins.

"Something easy, James. Like embarrassing him, but not too much.

"Screw embarrassment." James waves his hand, as if the idea is the dumbest thing ever. "I say we scare him." He finished, looking hopeful.

"Al is doubtful. "Scare him?"

James nods, confident. "Yep" He pops the 'p'. "It's revenge, bro. The definition of revenge is scaring people."

"I'm pretty sure revenge tends to be people killing someone else, James. Al says in a matter-of-fact tone.

"Murder? You have a dark mind, Al, kind of worrying. I'm talking emotional scarring. That's not as bad." James says, cheerfully.

Al looks horrified. "I don't want you to emotionally scar my best friend!" He shouts.

"Only slightly and temporary. " James objects, upset that Al doesn't approve.

"No! I just wanted to do something like... stealing all his clothes and hanging them around the school."

"That's stupid." James says, amused.

"Then what's your great idea." Al mocks.

James shrugs his shoulder. "Haven't thought of it yet."

"I thought you said you had a plan!"

"No, I said I thought of a type of plan. There's a difference." James states, smartly. Al sighs heavily through his nose.

"Ok." Al pauses, lost in thought. "So, revenge. Hmm."

James is staring at the ceiling, focusing on the peeling paint at the corner. 'Wow. This place really needs redecorating. Peeling paint and wallpaper... so homely and lovely.' James thinks blankly.

"I got it!" Al says suddenly, snapping James out his thoughts.

"Huh? Got what?" James asks, dazedly.

Al fixes his brother with an annoyed stare. "The revenge prank, remember." He says shortly, annoyed his brother isn't paying attention.

"Oh... yeah." James nods. "What've you got?"

Al perks up, previous annoyance gone. " I say we steal his clothes when he takes his shower, so he'll have to run to his bed naked!" Al says, gleefully.

James stares blankly at his brother. "This is why people keep thinking you two are dating, you know."

"For the last time, we're just friends!"

"Yeah, yeah." James placates, sounding like a parent who agrees with their child to keep them happy and save the effort.

"It's true!" Al insists, flushing.

"Whatever." James waves it off, not in the mood to do this dance for the millionth time. "Anyway, I said scare him. Not embarrass him."

Al freezes, back in thought. "Oh yeah." He says in remembrance. "I got them mixed up."

James rolls his eyes, truly feeling like the elder brother. Al jumps to his feet.

"I've got it! We'll put a fake spider on his face, when he's sleeping. Then we wake him up and record him screaming like a girl." Al says frantically.

"Why a fake?"

"I'm not touching a real spider! Are you crazy?!" Al shivers at the thought.

"Close but not enough." James says. He brightens suddenly, grinning. "My plan for revenge is perfect."

"Better than mine?"

"Definitely. Nothing can compete with it"

"Mine was perfect! It's funny, and slightly awkward." Al objects.

"So is the average family dinner."

"Shut up." Al whines. "So, what's your perfect plan?"

"I say we throw bricks through his window."

"That's illegal."

"Perhaps. But it's a lot more satisfying."

"No! We are not throwing bricks through my best friend's window! What the hell is wrong with you!" Al snaps, heatedly.

James glares at his brother. "What's wrong with it?"

"What's wrong with it?!" Al repeats. "What's not wrong about it! Throwing bricks through someone's window is way too far, James! And you say I have a messed-up mind."

"Well yeah, you were thinking of murder when I said we take revenge!"

"No, I wasn't!"

They both glare each other. They both jump when they hear their sisters voice.

"What's going on here? Why are you two shouting?" Their sister asks, looking like she just woke up.

"Nothing." The brothers stammer.

Lily nods, not believing them, but not calling them out.

Al clears his throat. "Just James coming up with stupid ideas." He hisses out.

James glares at his brother. Lily is bemused. "Screw you. My idea was perfect. It'll terrify him and I can't be bothered breaking into your common room to do average pranks."

"You don't need to break in. I'm in Slytherin."

"Who're you pranking?" Lily asks.

"Scorpius." Al answers.

"But you already pranked him." Lily says, confused. I remember Scorpius complaining you two wrecked his prized possession of a poster that he got from his dying aunt."

James blinks, backing away slightly towards the door.

Al looks horrified. "We did what! Oh no!"

"Yeah. I'd say you apologize. Not prank him again." Lily consoles him gently. Al nods.

"But how? We're here! He's there!" Al says frantically.

"What?" James and Lily say, both confused.

Lily shrugs, not understanding. " He's okay with it. But he would like you to apologize to him. It's just one word."

"But how?"

"Huh. Can't you two talk?" Lily asks, not clicking onto the fact that they're in the past.

"No! We're here!"

Lily nods, still not understanding. "Yeah that's a problem." Lily looks at the floor, thinking. She smiles. " I know. You write a letter then-"

Al cuts her off. "Then give the letter to Dumbledore to pass to him years later?"

"What? No. I was saying you write a letter, attach the letter to a brick. Then throw the brick through his window."

"That's illegal." James snickers, repeating Al's words from before.

"Perhaps, but it'll get the message across."

Al stares at his sister in shock, his mouth gaping. James bursts out laughing.

"NO! How am I related to you two!?" Al eventually shouts.

James has collapsed to the floor, crying from laughter.

Lily blinks, confused. "What?"

"Why the hell would I throw a brick through his window. We are in the same house! Plus, we are in the past remember!" Al shouts.

Lily blinks again. "Oh yeah!" She looks at James, confused to why he's laughing so hard.

Al has enough. "I'm going to bed!" He then storms out the room.

Lily stares after him. "What's up with him?" She asks no one in particular, as James is in no state to talk. She rolls her eyes, too tired to care.

"Whatever." She mutters. She gives one last looks at her brother who looks like is eventually calming down, then leaves the room to go back to bed.
