(A/N) Hehe, so I finally decided to write this because a fellow Tod/Kaylee lover messaged me and I was finally able to battle my laziness to write this.

***Spoilers for Reaper and Soul to Steal***

I saw her first.

She was strapped to a bed, little keening noises escaping her lips. The soft, mournful noise reached my ears and I had to know what the beautiful sound was, I had to find whatever was making that sound. Imagine my surprise when I noticed a girl with long brown hair and blue eyes, all wide and scared. In my almost drunken stupor, I couldn't help but think she was beautiful.

Nash never saw her.

When I talked to him about her, he was so excited. He didn't run up and say, "I met this awesome girl!" No, he said, "I finally met another bean sidhe!"

It was never about Kaylee. It was only about what she was.

He still doesn't see her.

He looks at her, sure, but he doesn't understand her. Nash doesn't understand the way he hurt her, even if he thinks he does. He's too busy worrying about Sabine to worry about his relationship with Kaylee.

And Kaylee, God love her, doesn't seem to see this.

She thinks he's trying to hard to be with her. She sighs and gets that little furrow in her brow when she talks about him, like she's permanently unhappy with him. And that's the way it should be. Nash did terrible things to her, and I don't care if he's my brother or not, some things just can't be forgiven.

Some things just shouldn't be forgiven. Some people just shouldn't be forgiven, but Kaylee will try because she's just that kind of an amazing person.

Too bad Nash doesn't see that.

He cares about her, he really does. But he doesn't care enough, and he's not sure why he cares. He's always been that kind of person, feel now think later. Only, when it comes down to it, he just puts off the thinking part and when his emotions fade (and they will fade, with him, they always do) there won't be anything left for her. And then there won't be anything left of her.

But I see the way he sees through her.

He has no idea how I feel about her, so he feels free to talk about her with me. We're brothers, that's what we do. He never notices the way she twists her hair when she's out of it, and he never notices the way she bites her lip when she's frustrated.

I know those things, but Kaylee doesn't see that.

When she smiles at me, she never gets that look that says she's concentrating. Sure, I'm not easy to be around, but there's no wondering what I'm thinking because I'm not quite that important to her.

I guess she's just too busy seeing Nash to really see me.

And you know what? It sucks.

(A/N) So nothing really happened here, but nothing was really supposed to happen. I was just trying to capture the way Tod might feel about Nash and Kaylee based on what he does in the books.
