I gazed at the wooden floor boards beneath me in a daze. Sprawled next to me my siblings were talking to the professor about our adventure, but I couldn't join in. My only thoughts were of what I had left behind.
We had been engaged for 4 months, and it was a week away from the wedding, when Mr Tumnus had come trotting out of the woods to bring news of The White Stag to Cair Paravel. She had chosen to stay behind because she had a stomach bug, or so she said, I'm starting to wonder if that was the case now. She would often get these 'feelings' if something significant was about to happen; and there had been many occasions over the years that these 'feelings' had alerted us situations that would have otherwise gone unnoticed, until it was too late.
I thought back to our last moments before I had left to catch the stag, she had looked so beautiful, her hair shining golden in the afternoon sun. Her forest green gown bringing out the amber flecks in her brown eyes. She must have known something was going to happen, she had held me just that bit longer than normal. And then there were the last words she ever said to me, they were the same ones we said every time we left each other, even if it was just to go in to the town. "I promise I will love you forever Edmund Pevensie" "Until we are both in Aslan's country"
Those words seemed to me more poignant at that moment, than they ever had before. And picking myself up off the floor of the wardrobe room, I knew that Grace meant every word, and that she would wait for me until it was my time to travel to Aslan's country.
Sooooo... this is my first fanfic, tell me what you guys think and should I write anymore?
