A/N: I just had the idea of doing a one-shot of Rue's family watching her die, along with a few of her friends. Sorry it's so short.

"Rue!" I saw the spear enter her body.

"No! Rue!" I yell again, placing my face 2 inches in front of screen. "No no no no…"

The girl from district 12, Katniss I think, shoots Rue's attacker in the neck.

"Are there any more?" she asks Rue. Rue shakes her head many times before Katniss understands.

My eyes tear up. I know that Rue is beyond repair. She will die. My Rue, my best friend. My love.

"Leam", my mother sobs, "I'm so sorry".

Rue asks the girl to sing and Katniss sings an unfamiliar song. Probably from 12:

Deep in the meadow, under a willow.

A bed of grass, a soft green pillow.

Lay down your head. A close your sleepy eyes.

And when again they open, the sun will rise.

Here it's safe. And here it's warm.

And here the daises guard you from any harm.

And here your dreams are sweet. And tomorrow brings them true.

Here is the place where I love you.

I'm trembling all over as I hear Rue's cannon sound. We all break apart, my parents and hers; her brothers and sisters and my brother and I.

But Katniss doesn't stop there with the song. The TV cuts away to other tributes, but when it comes back to Rue, she has flowers all over her hair and around her wound. She goes up beautiful.

I will always remember her this way. My little Rue with flowers in her hair. The way she would have looked when we had gotten married. I know she would've married me. She promised. But now all I have is an empty promise.

A/N: Yeah, its short…ok REALLY short. Sorry. I know they were only 12 to speak of marriage but I think it's sweeter that way. Review please?
