So I'm working my way through the prompt table atbraskaandhismen, and this is a oneshot for the Prompt #1, Guardian. This one was beta-read by the lovely47thlight. Enjoy, say what you feel, the usual. Just one thing I'd like to say; if you favourite, that's awesome! But a review would be VERY nice too *hint hint*
Anyway, here it is.
To tell you the truth, Auron wasn't his first choice.
No.
In reality, he wanted his younger sister to accompany him. She was the one who first discovered his gift. The one who sold herself to be a nun as an offering to the priests in return for his training. The one who followed him diligently everyday as he made the long, hard walk up the temple steps. The one who supported his controversial marriage, despite the damage to her own reputation within Yevon. The one who loved him the most, in the way only a sister can.
She was weak, yes, that was true. She lacked strength in combat and her magic skills were limited to basic black magic and healing spells. Should they have run into trouble, she wouldn't have been enough to protect them. He would have to rely on the aeons, and his own abilities, to protect them.
But her company would have been enough. Her loyalty, the knowledge that she walked but a few paces behind him would have kept him going.
Maybe it was better this way. Would he have been able to complete the journey, knowing what he would have to leave behind? Leaving his wife and daughter was difficult enough, but to force her to help him and witness his self-sacrifice...
Yes, it was good the way things turned out. Because as he looked towards Mt Gagazet looming ahead, his heart swelled with determination to avenge the death of the one he loved most.
This one was written with the feelings I have towards my big bro. I love him so much, I would probably die for him (probably... I dunno, you never do until something happens, yeah?) So I guess this ones for you Big Bro! (even though he doesn't, to my knowledge, know I write fanfiction)
