The brunette woman was talking to the doctor. She seemed very concerned. The doctor was trying to calm her down and was reassuring her of something. I wasn't really paying attention to them. My focus was on trying to figure out a couple of things- my name, why I was here, what had happened to me, ect. The man was standing in the hallway. Between replying to whoever was on the other end of the line, he took worried glances at me. I didn't know who any of these people were yet, and nobody was telling me anything.
"Alright, Ms. Novak, can you look at this pen?" the doctor asked me as he shined a light into my eyes.
"Who's Ms. Novak?" I asked him, confused, "And who are you?"
"I'm doctor Harrison. And YOU are Ms. Novak."
"Casey, do you remember anything?" The brunette asked me.
"Who are you? How do I know you? Why am I here?" I asked her.
"I'm Olivia. Olivia Benson. Remember me? I'm a detective for Manhattan SVU and you're our ADA."
"I'm your what?"
"ADA; Assistant District Attorney. You're our prosecutor." She explained.
"Ok, Olivia, why am I here?"
"I was hoping you could tell me that" She said.
"It might be good to indulge her in things that are common to her- her workplace, home, friends, and so on." The doctor suggested. "I'll have a neurologist look at her. Ma'am, we think you have amnesia from a head injury you sustained while in captivity."
"In captivity? Where was I?" I asked.
"A warehouse. Again, we were kind of hoping you could fill in some of the blanks." The brun- Olivia said. "Do you think there's any way we could get her discharged today so we could surround her with things she recognizes- the sooner she remembers everything, the sooner we can get this guy off the streets"
"What guy?" I asked.
"Again, we're relying on you remembering"
Great. Just what I need. Some more respondsablities.
Just then a tall man with brown hair chased a small child into the room. She had chestnut brown hair and blue eyes. I knew her.
