Chapter 16
BPOV
I ran to Jane shouting her name. How dare Edward do this, how dare he take Nessie's older sister. He had never met Jane, but he had met Nessie. We've known her since Jake introduced us when she moved to the reservation to live with Emily's family. Jane was like another mother to me. Rose helped her pick her up and carry her to my room. We carefully laid her on the bed. Alice and Angela walked in one with food the other a first aid kit.
"Are you ok?" I asked as I treated her cuts. She just nodded her head with confusion in her eyes. She wanted to know where I've been. I watched as Alice unplugged the cameras and speakers. I gave her a kind smile. The girls quietly left after that, leaving me to explain things to Jane.
"Bella, you're alive. We've all been worried," she said with a raspy voice. I gave her a small smile.
"Yeah. I'm alive and before you ask no one has hurt me at least not physically. But I am going to, why did Cullen take you Jane?"
"Bells, he didn't take me. Edward was the one who saved me." She said sitting up with a groan. I paused.
"He saved you?"
"Yeah I was leaving the campus from visiting Ness, when two men grabbed me. She hasn't taken your disappearance well, I visit every week. They must have thought I was her because they started talking about having the cop's daughter's best friend." She said and I flinched.
Nessie like Esme was there for me when I fell apart. When she heard I was going to school in Chicago she jumped at the chance for us to be roommates. She was from here, but after her and Jane's father died Jane sent her to live with her mother's side of the family, the only one she had left besides Jane. Though Jane and Nessie were siblings, they didn't look anything alike. Both girls looked just like their mothers. I had never seen a picture of their father, but they said that you would never be able to tell they are their father's daughters. I took their word for it.
"Actually I call both of you my best friend. You can have more than one."
She rolled her eyes at me. Here we were, both in the home of the most fearsome mob boss in Chicago and we were talking about who I was and wasn't best friends with. I stayed with Jane until she fell asleep then I decided to confront Edward.
I slowly walked to his room and took a deep breath before knocking on his door. After a few minutes he opened it and I was speechless. Not because he only had sleep pants on but because across his chest were many scars and a tattoo of a swan with a book. He cleared his throat and I looked up into his eyes as before her opened his door wider so I could come in. He shut the door behind me and passed me to sit on a black couch that I had never seen before. His back held scars and burns to along with the tattoo he go when he was 16 a few weeks before he died. It was the Mason family crest, the one his mother added to.
"What can I do for you so late Miss. Swan?" I moved over to the couch and sat on the other side of it.
"I just wanted to thank you for saving Jane."
"So that's her name, she wouldn't tell me, but the men who had her were under the assumption that she was your best friend."
"You can have more than one best friend, she is just the one you never met." I said repeating some of the words I said to Jane.
His face held surprise. He tried to hide it, but even after all this time I still knew his expressions.
"She is Vanessa's sister? " I just nodded my head as he shook his head. "They don't look anything alike."
"Yeah well they both get their looks from their mother."
He gave me a small smile and I gave him one back.
"Again thank you, I will fill her in on how things work."
I said then got up and headed to the door, He stood up but didn't move. I opened the door but paused before I left.
"If there is a way to, I would like to let Nessie know that Jane is ok. Say she is on vacation or something. She is already worrying about me, she doesn't need to do the same for her sister. She is already going through enough pain."
I didn't stay to hear his answer, just walked out and went back to my room wondering what the future would hold. A few days later I heard that a letter had been sent off to her sister.
I don't have a set schedule to when I will update, but I promise I won't wait so long again. Also I am going to update my other stories as well just in case you read those to.
