Author's Note: *Eugene-style* YAY! xD First Tangled fanfic, 'cause it had to be done. I simply loved the movie: Disney is surely getting back its magic. I still have to watch 'Princess and The Frog', and that shall be soon. More drabbles to come in the future. Enjoy! And I would like no flames, but whatever floats your boat.
Disclaimer: I would love to own Tangled; sadly, I don't, so copyright goes to Disney.
Forever In My Sight
A Tangled Fanfic
I'm not taking my eyes off her. Never. Again.
The day we returned to the capital city, she almost drove me mad. Now here, now there, now doing, now doing that… She had told me she was hungry and so, like the gentleman I am, I'd stood on cue to buy something. But no, she would not stay still: she started dancing in the middle of the square! I, Eugene Fitzherbert, will never understand how Rapunzel could manage. The best thing though was that, for as long as he was kept running around with her, I'd never tire.
Stupid, right? Not really, because Rapunzel's enthusiasm was contagious. Terribly contagious.
In just one day, we –I, to be fair- had done more things than I could've ever imagined. Well, I have done a lot of things during my life, but you get my meaning. I hadn't spent two hours in the library, looking through geography books, history books and all that stuff. I even found a copy of The Adventures of Flynnigan Rider! And of course! Rapunzel had to use her own version of my smolder: eventually, I complied and we read it together.
I'd come to think Rapunzel had settled down when, after returning the book to its place, I found her climbing ladder after ladder with a look of surprise on her face.
"So many books!" she'd exclaimed, almost knocking a whole pile of them over.
Later, street art. Who knew, right? She drew the kingdom crest with her own hands and, frankly, it was the best piece of art I had ever seen. Well, there was her mural back at the tower, the painting with the lanterns; who could doubt her talent? That was not the best of all: children, and even adults, joined her. There was no moment when Rapunzel wasn't smiling.
But even though a week had gone by since that day, Rapunzel… was still Rapunzel.
Her parents marvelled at her energy and joy. She was always willing to do whatever she was presented with, even if it meant getting used to wearing shoes. I myself knew nothing of how I was supposed to behave, but it was hard to get that idea into Rapunzel's head. Some time or another she'd show up barefooted, nevertheless walking with the gracefulness of a princess. It was weird to think that I was doing better than her. Gothel must've taught her something!
I won't even mention her baking adventures, or the time she almost fell down face-first from a chair… Oh, and the moments before and after her first decent haircut were hilarious. Whenever I don't look at her, be it just for a second or a minute, I'm always wondering what sort of idea will come to her mind next. Rapunzel surprises me every time.
And she is always smiling. Not even I can keep up with her; most of all, with her smiles. They're radiant, ever-present. Which is why I'll always keep my eyes on her.
We don't want her to get lost, do we?
A/N: I'm not sure if I did well, but I thought that last sentence at the end would be like Eugene. Reviews would be greatly appreciated!
