Y HARO THAR...

This is a plot bunny that bit me in the ass at about one am this morning. Yeah that was so fun...

Moving on. This story takes place in the AU that I started in Adjustment. I'm just going to give a quick review for those too lazy to go read it. ALIENS ATTACKED, world gets damaged. Lots and I mean LOTS of heroes died. Which mean Wally is The Flash~ and Dick is Batman. :3

Enjoy. Please Review!

As usual: NOT MINE

Sometimes the sex was meaningless.

Sometimes it was comfort.

Sometimes it was a way to hide the pain.

Sometimes it was just to be connected with a person again.

And sometimes it was just for the fact that a man loves a woman and nothing, not even death and destruction of the world, would stop them from being together.

She was in his doorway lingering unnecessarily. This is always what she did when she wanted it from him. But this time she's there with gauze covering part of her face and there is bandages on his chest.

It is hard for him to breath and he cannot move from the spot he positioned on the bed.

A couple days ago his lung collapsed, his heart stopped and his legs were broken.

A couple days ago her eye was ripped from its socket and her face was mutilated.

"I'm sorry," she murmurs and leaves the room.

All he wants to do is get up and go after her.

But he can't so all he does is shut his eyes and try to forget the world.

Months later she does it again. This time he catches her before she can leave the room and dumps her on his lumpy bed.

There are no words this time while they are together. It is primal, it is harsh, it is angry and it is there to prove that even though the world is ruin, even though they are broken, they are still human.

More months pass and his protégée asks him what he does when his door remains closed and locked.

Dick is in the room and the corner of his lip curls up. This is something that he hasn't seen in years.

Dick knows everything without ever being told.

"It is something you'll understand later in life." He finally states cryptically. Being ten the boy walks away satisfied.

It was meaningless that night.

War and ruin brings out the worst in people.

He is no exception.

She is no exception.

And sometime later there are words. It is not moans in pleasure or I love you.

She is putting on her clothes when she says, "do you wonder what life would be like if this never happened?"

It is hard to imagine because right now they are all dead inside, lifeless beings.

Before, all he could do was talk. Now he can't formulate words not even one small sentence. So he rolls over goes to sleep.

Time passes and the world is saved. The war had been won long ago, but finally the earth was resurrected.

And he finds himself drunk and positively miserable.

And for once he goes to her.

And there are words.

"What are you doing here?" she asks.

"Now," is all he has time to say before he kisses her.

He tastes like old whiskey and sweat. And she tastes like Megan's cooking and cheap wine.

"Now I can love you," he says trailing kisses down her neck.

And for once, when they are finished they stay together.

In the morning they awake to three grinning faces in the doorway.

"About time," Conner states with a smug smile.

"This has been going on for years," Dick says laughing the way he used to in Young Justice, except several octaves deeper.

Megan gives a smile, "I had a feeling."

Dick hammers on the doorway and states, "Well lazy bones time to get up! We got a world to rebuild, order to maintain."

And with that their three friends leave.

He turns to her and smiles, "Good morning."

She kisses him and says, "I love you."

And they both know all is right with the world.
