AN: Inspired by one of the Goddesses' lines in B/W: "Pokémon betrayed, oppressed, wounded by evil people... Those are the only Pokémon Getis would allow to approach N." (I actually haven't played B/W yet but read a fan-translated script.) A picture of little!N holding an injured Minccino and crying also helped inspire this.
N is a child at the edge of the forest where the Goddesses took him. He can see the Pokémon. He can hear them calling to each other, teasing and laughing. Playing, frolicking, sparring. Happy.
And he is happy too.
N is in the forest where his father had brought him, still no more than a child. He sees the Pokémon again and this time he is brave enough to play with them, too. He holds on tight as the large red one rides him around the forest, he giggles with glee as the purple cat crawls all over him and licks his skin with her sandpaper tongue, he sighs with a smile as he falls asleep with the gray weasel in his arms.
By the morning they all have names-Darmanitan, Purrloin, Minccino. They ask him his and he tells them, but they just call him N because it's not like his father is around to object right now.
N is being brought to the forest again, another few days with his friends. But he can't find them. He turns to his father, because Father knows everything that needs to be known, to ask where they've gone. He is sent deeper into the forest.
He hears one of the Goddesses say no, murmuring quietly, but Father speaks and she is quiet. He can hear one of them crying.
He is about to turn and see, but then he sees the Pokémon. He sees Darmanitan collapsed on the ground, covered in scratches and bruises, twitching violently. He sees Purrloin sprawled out against a tree opposite him, blood pooling around her. He sees Minccino's fur mangled, his legs bent oddly and blood coming out of somewhere on his body.
He grabs Minccino and runs, runs back to his father, holding him and crying and begging him to do something, to go back and save his friends.
But Ghetis says that there is no saving them as the Goddesses exchange despaired looks and one of the Dark Trinity men keeps glancing between the Minccino and N's tear-stained face with a horrible remorse.
N asks why, why his friends have become this and he is told it was humans who did this to them, who continue unpunished.
Minccino grows cold in N's arms.
