"I wonder if it means anything."

Kairi sat at her desk in her room, sketching. She shifted her feet and her right foot kicked a rather heavy bag. She frowned, but said nothing, nor did anything to move the bag that she had just kicked for the seventh time.

Something hit her window. Only slightly startled, she got up and went over. She slid the window up and peered out.

"Hey, what are you doing in there?" Sora asked. "You're going to miss us leaving!"

Sora stood next to Riku, both of them had rucksacks slung over their shoulders.

"Sorry," Kairi called. "I've been drawing. It's like I need to." She looked down as she said this last part, her left hand hovering over to her heart.

"What have you been drawing?" Riku asked, bringing her back to reality.

"You should come and see," Kairi said. "I don't recognize her."

"Her?" Sora mused, looking up at Riku.

Riku shrugged and made his way up to where Kairi was, Sora close on his heels.

As they walked into Kairi's room, she nudged the bag with her foot, as if trying to keep it hidden. She showed the two boys the sketch she had just done. It was of a girl with black hair, dressed all in black.

"That's Xion," Sora blurted.

"Xion?" Kairi asked slowly, testing the name on her tongue. "Who is she?"

Sora scratched the back of his head, thinking. "I honestly don't know. Her name just came to me, like that one time I remembered Roxas' name. But I couldn't say that I know her."

"I did," Riku said softly.

The other two looked at him, expectantly.

"I almost can't believe I forgot about her," he said. "But I did. Everyone's forgotten about her."

"Why?" Kairi asked.

"Because she was never supposed to exist."

"Who is she?" Sora asked.

"She was a replica," Riku replied. "But she was imperfect."

"Imperfect how?"

Riku turned to Sora. "Do you remember the replica of me?"

Sora shook his head no.

Riku looked down. "Of course you wouldn't. Well, the Organization made two replicas. One was a replica of me, wiped clean of my memories and given false ones. The second replica, was a replica of Roxas—your Nobody—and that's why she was imperfect. The memories were too scattered and they made her imperfect."

Both Kairi and Sora stared at him with wide eyes.

"Though, both replicas had a strong want to develop a sense of self," Riku said, allowing himself a small laugh in this sad story. "As for Xion, her sense of self completely revolved around scattered memories that she gathered from Sora."

"Why don't I remember this?" Sora asked.

"You were asleep."

Sora scratched his head. "Did I get them back?"

Riku nodded gravely. "But it cost Xion her existence."

Sora's entire face fell. "You didn't have to mention that."

Riku shrugged. "Because she had some of your memories—memories of Kairi at that, which is why she looked so much like Kairi—she had to be erased to ensure that you would get all of your memories back. Namine and I thought it especially important that you had the memories of Kairi."

Sora looked down at his shoes. Kairi blushed and looked back down at the sketch, noticing all the similarities between the girl in the picture and herself.

"Who erased her?" Sora asked.

"She was about to just give all the memories up to Namine when the Organization interrupted. She tried to just get herself killed then and there, but Axel couldn't kill her. So later, she convinced Roxas to do it, knowing that it would either be that he kills her or she'd kill him on accident."

Kairi found a tear trickling down her cheek. "How awful," she muttered.

"Indeed," Riku agreed.

"So, how is it that we're remembering her?" Kairi asked.

"Well, all record of her was erased as she was. Roxas and I held onto her memory the longest, but I forgot after the battle by Memory Tower. And I don't know how long Roxas remembered her, but by the time DiZ put him in the false Twilight Town, he'd forgotten his entire experience with the Organization, not just Xion. But, it would appear that Namine still knows her."

He looked Kairi in the eye. Her eyes widened.

"I wonder if it means anything," she said softly.

"Knowing Namine," Riku said. "It probably does."
