Yah, this is my second fanfic… so, please enjoy. I've gotten myself re-addicted to Black Cat.

Disclaimer: I do not own the manga Black Cat in any way and I do not own the characters or plot. Those solely belong to the author and artist/artists of the Black Cat manga.

Now then, formalities aside, read.

Crying. It's when water leaks from your eyes when you're sad or angry or really, really happy. He doesn't get it. He remembers being such a crybaby when he was little, but he prefers not to reminisce. It's far too serious for the stray cat lifestyle he's living now.

He gets crying when you're sad, of course, but not when you're happy. What's there to cry about? You're supposed to be laughing and smiling, without a care in the world.

Then again, ever since he became a killer, all the way to becoming a sweeper, to meeting Sven, then Eve, he hasn't cried of sadness even once.

Not even when Creed killed Saya.

It's been a stressful day of sweeper work. Really stressful. Sven hasn't said a thing, and even Eve's more silent than usual. He realizes he isn't saying much either. They're both angry at him and they're all covered in bandages. He really botched up a capture attempt this time that nearly killed them all. If he'd done something like this in his house cat days, then he would've been long dead, or maybe perhaps demoted. Who knew even the Black Cat could screw up this badly?

As they sit down for dinner, Train notices his share is far less than it usually is. On a normal day, he would be complaining to high heaven over this, but today's an exception. He's truly not that hungry. Train eats slowly, while Sven and Eve also eat slowly and not much, ignoring him. It's getting annoying, all this silence, and he's about to jump up and bow then apologize, when he realizes his throat is caught.

It's very sore, and he feels burning water dripping from his eyes, which are also sore. He doesn't realize what it is until he touches some fingers to mysterious liquid, licks them, and finds that they are salty. Tears. Train starts to sniffle, and the burning sensation at the back of his throat increases, until he starts sobbing, then full out bawling.

Sven and Eve are shell-shocked, and Sven's in a flurry, trying to figure out a way to calm down Train when Eve simply walks over and hugs Train. Sven stops fussing, pauses, and then does the same. Train begins to cry even harder and louder, until the people next door to their apartment hideout are complaining. These are ignored. He hugs them as tight as he can, until it starts to hurt them, but they don't say anything. Train needs to just relax and cry right now.

He cries, happy that they're alive and eating, happy that he wasn't, and will never be, the reason that they're dead, because they're not. He cries, heartbroken by Saya's death. He cries over his parents' murder and all that happened afterword. Sven and Eve stay silent. And so, he cries on.

He thinks he understands the concept of "mixed feelings" now.

Not "tears of joy," but he'll save that for some later date.
