Chapter 1

Red Streaks

The first time I saw Chloe Saunders I felt my breath catch in my throat. I never truly showed much interest in girls ever since puberty hit and caused madness all over me. Something about her caused a spark inside of my gut, but I ignored it as I stared silently, watching her talk to my brother. The red streaks in her hair matched the slight, almost transparent blush that spread across her face. She seemed to like Simon within seconds … Typical. He always knew how to pick 'em.

"Thanks, but he'll want the whole thing, right bro?" Simon turned his gaze to me as I stepped closer to them. The red in her hair flipped over her shoulder, when she turned her head, so she could study my face. I scared her of course … that was definitely normal.

I blinked my eyes a few times, pulling myself from my own thoughts and memories. Chloe had started talking about something, but I tuned in too late.

"Derek? Are you ignoring me?" she asked patiently, making the "bad dog!" face at me. I knew she said something that she thought was important; it was the only time she made that face. She poked me repeatedly in the arm before I answered.

"Sorry what?"

"I asked you, what the first thing that you noticed about me was." She pursed her lips searching my eyes for the truth.

"Those stupid red streaks in your hair."

"They weren't stupid. I thought they looked cool." she crossed her arms and turned her back to me, stubbornly.

"You should know by now that when I say stupid I mean cute." I sighed, reaching out for her shoulder before pulling her back against my chest. I sighed as the movie she picked out for the night was finally starting.

"You know what?" she whispered so softly, that if I did not have super hearing I would not have heard her over the volume of the television.

"Hm?"

"You're stupid." Chloe muttered, snuggling closer to me.

"So are you." I smiled and kissed the top of her head.

So I'm trying something new again lol. I know I really have to finish my other stories before I write more but I keep having random ideas... even if they're stupid. XD So this will be a color-themed collection of one-shots/drabbles in the life of chlerek!
