Shades of Gray - Hermione Granger's POV
To classify people in categories, you could
But there's more than simply evil and good
Look at Draco Malfoy, for instance. He can be loud
And arrogant and snobby, rude and proud.
Now I'm not entirely sure whether my theory is right,
But when he turned into a ferret, he was pure white.
If white signifies good, and black is the dark side,
Was there something this ferret was trying to hide?
My friends told me why he really tried to kill Dumbledore
But he hadn't killed anybody. Do I need to say more?
There was still innocence in him; he was still young
He cared for his family, his father among.
How could pure evil still have such feelings?
There must be an explanation, a deeper meaning.
So I took it upon myself to think and to wonder,
And finally I found the result of my ponders.
Though he may seem the devil itself, unable to feel,
Malfoy seems to have many secrets to conceal.
I watched him, sneaking glances whenever I could,
And I was proud when I found that my theory still stood -
By observing his actions, I could finally see
There's not just bad and good, there's much in between.
I had many musings, and to tell you I ought
Black and white personalities are nothing but a thought.
I believe his looks and his character are connected in ways
No wonder his eyes contain such shades of gray.
