Shades of Gray - Hermione Granger's POV

To classify people in categories, you could

But there's more than simply evil and good

Look at Draco Malfoy, for instance. He can be loud

And arrogant and snobby, rude and proud.

Now I'm not entirely sure whether my theory is right,

But when he turned into a ferret, he was pure white.

If white signifies good, and black is the dark side,

Was there something this ferret was trying to hide?

My friends told me why he really tried to kill Dumbledore

But he hadn't killed anybody. Do I need to say more?

There was still innocence in him; he was still young

He cared for his family, his father among.

How could pure evil still have such feelings?

There must be an explanation, a deeper meaning.

So I took it upon myself to think and to wonder,

And finally I found the result of my ponders.

Though he may seem the devil itself, unable to feel,

Malfoy seems to have many secrets to conceal.

I watched him, sneaking glances whenever I could,

And I was proud when I found that my theory still stood -

By observing his actions, I could finally see

There's not just bad and good, there's much in between.

I had many musings, and to tell you I ought

Black and white personalities are nothing but a thought.

I believe his looks and his character are connected in ways

No wonder his eyes contain such shades of gray.
