"So…"
Donna jumped in surprise to find Jack Harkness looming over her, inches behind her back.
"Jack!" she said with a smile, both her and The Doctor's fondness for the time agent shining through her teeth.
"Donna," he sang, smiling widely with his American teeth. "Or is it Doctor Donna now?"
"Who knows?" Donna replied with a shrug and flick of her hair and the tumbling of Time Lord knowledge.
"So I've been meaning to ask you…" Jack started, swaggering even closer to her. "Now that you've got that Time Lord in your brain…"
Donna pursed her lips. "You want to know whether The Doctor finds you attractive?"
"What?" Jack asked, eyes wide and innocent. "No, I hadn't even thought of that."
Donna raised a very Doctor-like eyebrow. "Really?"
He grinned again. "Although now that you mention it…"
"Jack!"
She slapped his wrist, which was now cornering her against the console. The very human, very Donna Noble part of her was not at all bothered.
"Ok, ok," he said, showing his palms to her in surrender. "Actually, I was going to ask how you were doing with it all."
"You were?" Donna asked, flattered. "Thank you."
Jack smiled again. "So…"
"It's brilliant!"
"Fantastic?"
"Molto bene!"
They both laughed. Jack cornered her again. "Specifically…the thoughts and feelings thing."
"Yeah," Donna said, considering. "Well, he's there," she said pointing to her head. "It's weird, you know. I mean, I understand her a lot more," she said, stroking the TARDIS console just like The Doctor would. "I can feel her."
"Anything else?"
"People too," Donna said, nodding. "I know you," she said, raising en eyebrow again. "But at the same time, I don't." She turned around to look at the other humans in the control room. "I don't know her at all," she said, pointing to Sarah Jane. "But at the same time, I feel protective of her, like she's the oldest friend I have. And Jackie Tyler," she said, gesturing to the blonde, "Well, I don't much like her but at the same time there's this fondness…" She scrunched up her nose. It was odd.
"Oh, that old softie!" Jack laughed, looking at Jackie. "And he thinks he doesn't do domestics!"
"Exactly," Donna said. "It's all here. It's like I'm feeling it too."
"Good…" said Jack with a cheeky smile. "What about…" he grabbed her shoulders and guided her to face the other side of the room. "…her?"
Rose Tyler.
Donne clucked her tongue and looked at Jack over her shoulder.
Voyeur.
He giggled.
She rolled her eyes and raised an eyebrow at him. "You are so…"
In an effort to avoid his grin, she turned her head back. Rose spotted her and waved, a beautiful smile spreading over her face. Donna watched, mesmerized, as Rose's hair picked up in the air and breezed over her shoulders.
What the…? "Urgh!"
She looked back over her shoulder. Jack was keeled over, laughing his stupid, pretty head off.
"Hello!" Donna jumped again. The metacrisis had popped up right in front of her, obscuring her good view of…
…oh dear god.
"Donna, are you ok?" The Doctor's twin asked, brightly. "Your face is as red as your hair!" He grinned.
"I. Hate. You!" Donna groaned and stormed away. Jack clutched his sides and laughed brazenly as he watched her go.
"What's up with her?" The Doctor asked, in a very Donna Noble voice. He smiled at Jack fondly. He looked around and caught Rose's eyes and they smiled together too.
"Oh the possibilities…" Jack sighed with one last laugh.
