Not quite where I expected this one to go...
Changes
"He's changed, El," Peter said one night, as they climbed into bed.
"Neal?" she questioned.
Peter nodded. "I never even thought about it. I just… realized. He's not the man I arrested six years ago, not the man I pulled from prison."
"It's been a long time. People change," she shrugged. "He's not the only one who's changed, either."
"What do you mean?" Peter asked.
"You've changed too, Peter," she said, smiling at him. "Look back at yourself six years ago. And look at yourself now. Your partner is a former criminal. He's also your best friend and one of the few people you trust with your life."
"I suppose your right," Peter agreed. If you asked him six years ago if he thought this was possible, he'd have thought you were insane.
"And," Elizabeth continued. "Just last week, you formed a crew and pulled a con. Granted, it was to clear your name, but you never would have done that before."
"What has that man done to me?" Peter asked, shaking his head.
Elizabeth smiled. "Your partnership would never work if the two of you hadn't both been will to meet halfway. You changed each other. For the better."
