Reading Gregor the Overlander
A/N This is my first story so DON'T go easy on me. I want to hear the honest truth even if it hurts.
Disclaimer: I don't own this book :'( it belongs to Suzanne Collins.
Gregor, his family and Mrs. Cormaci were all relaxing in his apartment. It was about a week after the warrior had been killed. His grandmother was back from the hospital and was sleeping in her room. Lizzie had just gone to check on her, when she came running back into the main room with five books. She looked on the verge of a panic attack. Gregor and his dad both immediately jumped up, sat her down, and asked her what was wrong.
"Is gramma ok?" worried Boots.
"Y-yes," panted Lizzie, still clutching the five books to her chest protectively. "She's f-fine."
"If she's fine, then what happened?" questioned her mom.
"I went into our room and asked grandma if she was feeling okay." Lizzie began shakily, "She told me she was, but if I wanted to heal Gregor that I had to look under her bed."
"What?" Gregor asked, "But I'm fine."
"That's what I said. She told me that you were almost perfectly okay on the outside, but on the inside you were almost completely destroyed. Anyways, I got down on my knees and looked under the bed. Underneath were these books." And as she read their names, she placed them on the table. "Gregor the Overlander, Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane, Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods, Gregor and the Marks of Secret, and Gregor and the Code of Claw."
There was silence for a moment, then, "So, I take it these books are about Gregor's . . . adventures in the Underland?" Grace said quietly.
"Do we read them?" asked her husband.
"Well, I've always wanted to know exactly what happened to Gregor on his adventures." replied Mrs. Cormaci.
"I don't know," said Lizzie, "What if they're too . . . well Gregor, what do you think?"
"Um, well," Gregor hesitated. While he wanted his family to know what happened, he didn't want to freak them out and worry about him. Then again, if his mom knew his feelings about the Underland and Luxa, she might let him go back.
"I say we do it." he finally agreed.
"Great! I'll start." said Mrs. Cormaci. She picked up the first one: Gregor the Overlander. She opened it to the first page and started to read.
I fixed/edited this chapter on Wednesday, 07/20/2011.
