_Lessons in Love_

"Young master, I will have to ask you to please stop idly staring at your notebook; and continue with your cursive practice."

The earl sighed, soft breath swaying blue-black fringe out of his eyes. This was one of his worst subjects; it was much harder to practice your writing skills when you hadn't the slightest clue what to write about. And so, here he was; eyes glaring at the parchment, giving fair warning that if given the chance the paper would become ash. The child sighed again. He knew what he wantedto write, soft comparisons and sweet nothings to the person he loved. But he wasn't so sure how his demon companion would react to a love sonnet, and he was still Earl of Phantomhive and he had to live up to that name.

"Young master, I beg of you, if you do not wish to work on your cursive now, we can always move on. Please, pick something that will spark your interest."

Dark blue eyes looked innocently up at the emotionless face of the demon. Now was as good a time as any to ask.

"Can demons love, Sebastian?" Curiosity and hope swarmed his usually dead eyes. He wanted- needed to know the answer. Ciel wasn't sure how much longer anyone could last without knowing if their loved one loved them back. Or was even capable for that matter...

Sebastian's eyes caught note of Ciel's uncharacteristic hope. It was strange to say, but the demon had been noticing subtle differences in the boy. Instead of hatred towards everyone, he treated the butler with warmth and kindness, something that made the demon's curiosity and alertness grow. He must be sick...

"No, I do not believe so. Why do you ask, is there someone you've come to fancy?" The demon teased.

"Yes." It was a quiet, hushed whisper. One that was almost fearful and again very abnormal behavior for the boy.

The demon smiled, "Oh? And who is the lucky lady; Lady Elizabeth* perhaps?"

Ciel snorted, "No."

"No? Ok, are they you're age, or are you perhaps fostering a love for someone older?" The demon continued to tease.

"They're older," the boy blushed, a deep scarlet dusting over his cheeks.

"Alright, then, is she beautiful?" The butler smirked.

"Oh yes," Ciel said in a dreamy whisper,"but it's not a girl..."

"Oh?" The demon said surprised, " Well then, could the young master tell me who it is?"

A tiny, fearful whisper flitted the air, "You."

"Ahh, I see. It is normal for humans to grow attached to their caretakers; especially in extreme cases such as yours, " Sebastian reasoned.

Ciel shook his mop of hair in disagreement, "No, it's not like that at all. I mean, I love you... But you said demons cannot love; please just forget what I've said."

The demon smiled softly at the little boy,"No, young master, I'm afraid you'll have to teach me."

Hope flitted into miss-matched eyes and the child gave a cute little smile, "I'm your teacher now, Sebastian."

Too corny? The asterisk is a joke, I personally hate Elizabeth :) Reviews would be nice.
