Smile
It's been done before, but I don't care.
Disclaimer: I own Doctor Who less than I love Harry Potter, but more than I want to be Justin Bieber. Work it out.
The Doctor's smile has always been too big in this body, along with the rest of his facial features. It's a little embarrassing to be honest, and he rarely has a reason to smile with all the thoughts that run through his head, so he just… doesn't.
Then he meets Rose Tyler, and in his hurried explanation of the Autons, he feels a smile creep up. Maybe he was wrong about his ninth body and personality; he's not as taciturn as he thought.
But when she smiles, when he sees her grin for the first time – tongue clamped between her teeth, eyes sparkling – he realises that she's not just another human. She's fun-loving, adventure-seeking, full of life. Just like a companion needs to be.
He thinks he can be that kind of guy for her. You know, to make things the most comfortable.
Oh, yes. He can get used to smiling for Rose.
First Doctor Who fic: success.
