Dear Readers,
It has been such a long time, and so much has happened in my life over the course of the past two years, so I'd like to begin by apologizing for leaving you hanging, if you even are still hanging around, waiting for a new chapter of I Wish It Was You to show up. There is no excuse for me to just abandon this story, even though I had every intention of returning to it; I could've posted a little Author's Note as I'm doing now, or something, anything instead of just disappearing in a puff of smoke.
That being said, for any of you that are still lingering on a string of hope, I'd like to apologize further, because on July 24th, I am going to be deleting this story altogether as well as its companion piece, When Days Were Long and Pleasant. Why? As I said before, a lot has happened to me over the past two years since I've posted to this story. Even though I haven't shared my work, I have been writing and my writing has evolved, as have my views on the world through my experiences and adventures. And to be honest, when I started this story over four years ago, I was a completely different person and author. I feel that, if I did continue posting, there would be a noticeable difference in almost every aspect of the story—tone, characters, etc—between the last chapter I posted, and the new one.
Which is where we get to some good news…
I am not done telling this story. In fact, I am just as passionate about Miranda and Damon's journey today as I was when I first started writing it. So, when this version of I Wish It Was You disappears on the 24th, you will be, hopefully, pleasantly surprised that a new one will appear in its place, starting at the very beginning. There will be changes, but hopefully it will be given the love and affection that you've given this older story, that encouraged me to write as much as I did.
I will not be deleting my Klaus/OC story, Smoke in the Air, which I have finished writing (surprise!) but haven't updated in about a year. (Oops. Blame life.) New chapters will be appearing about the same time that the new version of this story goes up. So, if you're interested in reading it in the mean time, or are already a reader, you have something to look forward to, even if it's close to the end.
Thanks to everyone who followed/favorited/reviewed and damn, even just read it, whether you were there from the very beginning or are a new fan. You are the spirit that kept this story going when I didn't believe that I could even post something worthwhile! See you soon!
PS. If you don't want to wait for me to haul ass on the I Wish It Was You reboot or the remaining chapters of Smoke in the Air, feel free to go check out any of the amazing, beautiful stories written by my good friend TinyDancer365. I beta read for her and her work is beyond amazing and entirely addictive. Go give her some love! You won't be disappointed!
