I'm sick at home and I was listening to my 'cheer me up' music and James Taylor is one of the most amazing musicians ever and his song, Sweet Baby James, is fantastic; it has always been one of my favorites. I hope you like it.
Disclaimer: I don't own Big Time Rush or James Taylor, I'm a 15 year old girl; I don't even own a car.
~Sweet Baby James~
"Kendall" you whispered. I heard you but I didn't respond. I was still partially asleep. And I was tired. It was passed midnight and we had hours of training with Mr. X that day. You whispered my name again, louder, so I turned my head to see your bed.
"What, James?" I asked, tiredly.
"I can't sleep." You replied. You sounded defeated, as if you were debating whether or not to call me over. I sighed and pulled myself out of my warm covers. I sat on the edge of your bed and you leaned against your headboard and looked to me.
I stretched my hand out to push the hair out of your eyes. You had bags under your eyes and you looked out of it. I sighed and grabbed you hand as I started to sing one of your favorite songs.
"There is a young cowboy, he lives on the range. His horse and his cattle are his only companions. He works in the saddle and sleeps in the canyons, waiting for summer, his pastures to change."
You smiled sweetly and laid back down, knowing this will help you drift off to sleep. You still clutched my hand tightly. I smiled as I continued.
"As the moon rises he sits by his fire, thinking about women and glasses of beer. Closing his eyes as the doggies retire, he sings out a song which is soft but it's clear, as if maybe someone could hear."
Your eyes started to droop. I could tell you partially wanted to keep listening but this lullaby has always worked on you. So I keep going, knowing you were seconds away from dreaming.
"Goodnight you moon light ladies, rock-a-bye sweet baby James. Deep greens and blues are the colors I choose, won't you let me go down in my dreams... And rock-a-bye sweet baby James."
I saw your eyes were closed and your chest was slowly rising and falling at a steady pace. I gave your hand another squeeze and I leaned in and gave your forehead a kiss like I did before we went to bed originally.
I tried to pull away, but your hand held on tight. I knew that it was impossible but I took it as a sign and lied down next to you. As always, I was immediately intoxicated by your scent: your Cuda shampoo and your minty toothpaste. I hugged my arms around you and kissed your lips. It was just for a second, knowing you wouldn't kiss back this time, but it was amazing nonetheless. I smiled because you smiled in your sleep. I nuzzled my face into the crook of your neck and played the song in my head as I drifted off to sleep as well.
Rock-a-bye Sweet Baby James.
*Chokes on fluff* That probably made you so happy inside, you'll vomit rainbows. My first Kames but I liked it. It's also my first time writing in that style, but I think it turned out okay. Please, tell me what you think! :)
