Jealousy wasn't his color
.
It wasn't that Pearl was mad or anything.
He came to the realization that Dia would never give it a break with his jokes; he realized that he needed to give Dia some spotlight so he could do some jokes of his own, breaking out of the straight man and funny man manzai (stand-up comedy), they usually do – ever since Diamond finally talked back to the demanding Pearl.
It was good he had finally stood up to Pearl, really good. Dia could now follow his heart and tell jokes he liked once in a while.
He felt Diamond's jokes were pretty funny, actually. No, he wasn't mad at all of that.
And it certainly wasn't the fact that Pearl was jealous. Never. Sure, he was upset the first time she laughed at Dia's joke, but that was because she quickly denied it even when he heard her conspicuously soft giggles. He rather disliked the way she lied to him that time, but that was the only reason. In fact, Pearl would like to think of it as being suspicious that time.
Maybe then, but now...
He quickly turned his head before she got a chance to stop mid-giggle.
Now she didn't lie to him. She didn't stop. She continued to giggle – that soft giggle that would normally make him smile; the angelic laugh that would normally make his ears perk with delight.
Not this time. He was neither satisfied nor impressed. He scowled at the very fact she was looking at Diamond.
Diamond's joke wasn't that funny.
He crossed his arms in annoyance. He was not jealous. He just didn't like how Platina laughed at Dia's jokes. After all, he was the one who wanted to make her laugh.
Okay, maybe he was a little jealous.
"What's wrong?" Dia's lethargic voice asked, causing Pearl to jump out of his thoughts. The two were now staring at him, causing him to not want to look their way.
"Didn't you think his joke was funny?" Platina asked with a small smile.
"It was alright," Pearl said with his arms crossed. He turned the other direction of the two. "But not as funny as the stuff I come up with," Pearl whispered out for only Platinum's ears. Platina laughed at his childish antics. He stared at her in the corner of his eye, inwardly smiling. It was not like what Pearl said was hilarious. In fact, it was more childish than funny. Yet she still giggled, and he still smiled.
He rather liked it this way.
