Midnight Again
The cresent moon was high in the sky – it was almost midnight. The light shining down from the moon moade the blond boy's hair seem white. He was standing with is bck to the celestial object, and his eyes were glued to a certain plant in the greenhouse. The Midnight Flower.
Clary was silent as she watched the rise and fall of his shoulders as he breathed. He didn't know she was there. she watched as he sat down in front of the flower, and she couldn't stay hidden any longer.
She snuck up behind him, practicing her I'm-a-shadowhunter-so-I'm-really-quiet walk. As she reached him she knelt down, winding her arms around his torso. "Hey, Jace," she whispered, leading her head forward to kiss his jaw. Without warning he grabbed her waist with both hands and she was suddenly sitting on his lap.
"Hi there, Clarissa." He replied. A sly smiled formed on his lips and reflected in his eyes.
They both fell silent as they waited for the Midnight Flower to bloom. Jace had subconsciously cradled Clary against his chest. Clary was playing absentmindedly with Jace's fingers. She laid her head against his shoulder, taking in his smell of blood and soap.
"Clary," Jace said softly. She looked at him, and he was smiling down at her. "Look."
He motioned at the flower, which was now blooming. Clary watched as it unfolded, a smile spreading across her lips.
"Do you remember the first time you brought me here?" she asked Jace, her gaze still fixed o the flower.
"I do." he answered cheerfully. "It was your birthday, last year. We had a picnic. It was the first time we kissed." Clary, surprised that he remembered that, just nodded.
"It was a great night." Jace added added thoughtfully. Clarry, getting her voice back, laughed lightly.
"It was a wonderful night. She corrected. Jace chuckled, pulled her closer, and their lips met as the Midnight Flower closed.
