Walking Through A Winter Wonderland
Sleigh bells ring, are you listening,
In the lane, snow is glistening
A beautiful sight, We're happy tonight,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
Buttercup took her usual turn, after school was her time. Her time to relax and enjoy the scenery. No sisters to nag her, no professor to yell at her, no students to stalk her, no boys to disgust her. Just her and her alone.
She followed the path down the park, hands in her pockets and frost piercing against her skin. The charity bells rang throughout the area and she listening carefully to the tune they echoed, nodding along in enjoyment.
On top of the hidden grass was crisp and clear snow. Untouched and undisturbed, not a touch of dirt or footprint in sight. A beautiful landscape that only a few take the time to admire.
"BUTTERCUP!" shouted an annoying Ruff as he jumped out of a tree and landed on the snow and imprinted his boots marks.
Buttercup looked down at his feet as he began to walk towards her, she held her hand up, "Stop!"
"What?" he asked confused but he did as he was told.
Her eyes redirected themselves towards his face, "You're walking through a winter wonderland without enjoying it!"
Gone away is the bluebird,
In his place is a new bird
He sings a love song,
As we go along,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
"You have to admire every step you take across it." she moved towards him slowly and closed her eyes to take in the true event of it all. Once she reached him she opened her eyes and sighed, "Listen to the sound of each step and feel the water seep through your shoes. Admire it."
"I'm sorry but am I talking to the real Buttercup?" he smirked and she rolled his eyes, "I just never thought you could be so deep."
"Only when I'm in a winter wonderland." she turned and walked as he trotted beside her. "Listen to the birds sing."
"Tweet, tweet a tweet, tweet, tweet!" he whistled quietly, "It's like a bird's love song."
She turned to him and smiled but she kept her course as they walked along the path.
In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
We'll say: No man, But you can do the job
When you're in town.
Moments later the two were rolling the snow into large balls and piling them on top of one another. Butch added some details, rocks as eyes and noses and sticks as arms.
Buttercup shook her head, "He's not done!" she grabbed her scarf and Butches hat and placed it on their creation, "That's better."
"He kind of looks like Parson Brown." noted Butch with a grin.
"Parson Brown was a famous pastor, how does the snowman look anything like him?" Buttercup asked confused.
"I can just imagine him asking us if we're married."
"We're not!" she exclaimed in response.
"I told him he can do the job on another Christmas." he winked and turned to walk down the path again.
Later on, we'll conspire,
As we dream by the fire
To face unafraid,
The plans that we've made,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
"Want to come over my house?" he asked timidly, they were almost done strolling through the park.
Buttercup blushed but held her confidence, "Depends, will their be a fire?"
"Sure, we can dream by it." he winked again, so smug.
She gave him a smirk of her own, "We can dream about this winter wonderland."
Walking in a winter wonderland,
Walking in a winter wonderland.
He grabbed her hand and they finished their walk through the snowy fields together.
