She was on her knees on the playground pavement. It did hurt - yes, but she didn't care. Wide-eyed, she looked at the crying boy. His eyes were closed, and tears were leaking out.

"Don't cry…"

He sniffed, opening his blue eyes. She was in front of him, holding a light blue tissue to his face. Hesitantly, he took it and rubbed his tears away. He was still shaking, so she went beside him, leaning on the wooden fence.

It's time to try defying gravity
I think you'll try defying gravity
And they can't pull you down

He looked at her, and she smiled. His lips became upturned at the sides, and then she rubbed his shoulder, before standing up.

She walked in front of him, and then dusted off her dress. She gave him a toothy grin and stuck out her hand.

"My name is Rachel Berry, what about you?"

He took her hand, and she helped him get up. He was a good inch taller than her.

"Kurt. I'm Kurt Hummel."
