Bella, the Vanderbilt Vampire:

Recap: Edward's POV: I gasped and grabbed my chest. Oh, Edward! Bella's in trouble!

Chapter 23

Summer's POV:

I can't believe that this stranger I am holding would just give up her life to save our souls! She is risking more than her life now though. She is risking taking on the Devil himself if we don't find the antidote for her.

"Autumn?" I call to my sister as we swim out from the sea.

"Yes sister?" She asks and adjusts the Venustus Eligitur Salvatoris back on the makeshift raft. The waves are making this rather difficult.

"Is there an antidote for this?" I asked worriedly and began biting my nails. My sister quickly slapped my hand.

"Don't chew on your nails, it is unladylike," she said.

"Don't stall, tell me if she is going to live," I demanded as we pull the Venustus Eligitur Salvatoris onto the sandy beach.

"Yes tell us, will my mate live?" a bronze haired god spoke as he arrived with a very large, and angry, entourage. "And did you do this to her?"

"No!" I shouted horrified. "She helped us," I told him and looked back to her. I swept her wet hair back and gasped as I noticed the heat pouring off of her.

"What is it sister?" Autumn asked.

"The fever is settled within her," I said.

"Someone needs to tell us what is going on," a new voice gruffly ordered. Some moved out of his way and my oh my. I am in a desert and he is a tall drink of water. I have never met a soul so fine and an aura so clean. I looked into his eyes and watched the anger melt into astonishment.

"Alright, as you all seem to know this Venustus Eligitur Salvatoris. She helped free us and many other girls from our forced indentured servitude. I take it rescuing people is a past time for her," Autumn began.

"More of a calling, but go on," the bronze one said.

"She was battling the wicked man behind this. She was able to destroy his evil spirit but she was struck in the aftermath by this," I said and pointed to the arrow in her abdomen.

"Let me through, I am a doctor," a blonde attractive man said. He crouched down and went to reach for the arrow when my sister smacked him. It is her character flaw. She loves to smack.

"Not so fast doc," she said. "This is not an ordinary arrow. This is The Arrow of Eternal Damnation."

"How dangerous is this arrow?" a voice in the group that I couldn't distinguish said. Well, I could have distinguished if I wasn't so distracted by the tall and handsome drink of water. Boy do I need to get his name.

"Lethal," I decided to be productive. "The Arrow of Eternal Damnation is a slow acting poison that traps one's soul in long suffering and ships it straight to Hades upon the body giving out due to the pain. Any who touch the arrow are immediately set aflame and perish within seconds."

"How are we supposed to help her then?' the bronze one began pinching the bridge of his nose in obvious frustration.

"There is a cure," my sister said. "However, only the mate to the infected can help. The mate must be certain in their love, have the purest of intentions, and know not to step off the path. If they waver in any of the three, both shall perish and their souls will be forfeit to Hades and they will be conscripted into his servitude in the underworld until the end of time. So I ask you now. Are you sure sir? Is the Venustus Eligitur Salvatorisyour mate? Do you love her? Are you willing to make this journey for her?"

"Of course. I haven't a shadow of a doubt in my heart," he said. "Just tell me what to do."

"I need everyone to make a circle around both of them. This has to be a circle of those who care for either parties. Sit a foot apart in a criss cross manner," she waited until they did so.

"You too sister." Oh, okay. Where to sit? Tall drink of water held out his hand to me and I scurried over to him, not even bothering to stand and walk like an adult. I situated myself and focused on controlling my blush.

"My name is Jacob by the way," he whispered to me.

"That's cool. Summer," I blurted. No one would believe that I was ever a seductress now.

"What about Summer?" he asked.

"That's my name," I answered. "Now let's get back to business."

"All must join hands as a show of unity," my sister ordered. "I will be your guide. Those sitting with hands clasped tight, I beg of you do not let go. You are warding off the evil tendrils of spirits who wish to exact revenge. They cannot penetrate this circle." I had to hold back my giggle. So what if I am super old, I still love funny innuendos. "Mate of the Venustus Eligitur Salvatoris are you ready?"

"Yes."

"Place both hands on top of her heart, being careful not to touch the arrow," Autumn instructed then she began to sing her siren song that will help lead Edward to the land of the lost, to Bella. I hope she can hold on until then. It is known that the land of the lost is worse than Hell itself for the people there have nothing to lose and the hope to leave that plane. Go Edward, save her.

(AN: I hope you enjoyed this little chapter. Sorry it is short, but the next one will more than make up for it 😉 . Disclaimer: I do not own the Twilight Saga.)
