It's... Alive!
[insert creepy theme music here]
Yes, I'm still hangin' around. Um, it's been a ridiculously long time since I've posted anything, and I apologize for that. I blame school (who knew a Creative Writing major could leave a person so goddamn busy?), and Dir en grey for being amazing and so damn easy to get obsessed with. It's all their fault.
So, this is a Dir en grey fic, written in the name of procrastination and not enough sleep. And to be honest, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this happened at some point in time. It's something they would do.
Disclaimer: I don't own Dir en grey. Kyo, Toshiya, Die, Kaoru and Shinya belong to themselves, and it's lucky they do because if they were mine no one would ever see them again... Heheheh...
Kyo had an ability very few people possessed. He could sleep any time, and any where. It came in handy on tours; the rest of the band suffered sleepless nights in uncomfortable beds on cramped tourbuses, but none of that affected Kyo. He was well-rested, for the most part, for lives, while the others, well, weren't.
It was Kyo's bad habit that he made use of this little ability as often as he could. He was notorious for sleeping through interviews and not going to them, and had once fallen asleep in the middle of one. The band wrote it off simply as one of Kyo's many quirks, but there were times when they couldn't resist taking advantage.
Like tonight. Kyo lay on his back in the bus, shirtless and his arm stretched over the arm of the couch. His other arm was wrapped around his torso, and his lips were parted ever so slightly. Toshiya and Die stood in front of him, silly grins on their faces, and a Sharpie clutched in Die's fist.
Toshiya pushed Die forward. "It was your idea," he whispered. "You do it!"
"But what if he wakes up!" Die whined. Still, he inched closer with the marker.
"He'll be pissed," Kaoru's deep voice muttered behind them.
Toshiya turned around and gave him a lopsided grin. "Yeah, that's the fun of it!"
Kaoru rolled his eyes and went to the fridge for a bottle of water. "It's your life," he said. "Just don't say I didn't warn you."
Toshiya and Die turned back to Kyo, but Die still hesitated. "Just do it already!" Toshiya hissed, and punched the guitarist in the arm.
"Okay, okay." Die bent down so he could have better access to the canvas that was Kyo's face. He brought the Sharpie down, and slowly made a line across Kyo's cheek. The vocalist's nose twitched, but there was no other reaction. Emboldened, Die continued with his drawing, Toshiya giggling in the background. When he was done, Kaoru chuckled and went back to what he was doing.
About ten minutes later, Kyo began to stir. He stretched luxuriously, and slowly opened his warm brown eyes. Toshiya and Die were staring at him, the both of them wearing identical goofy grins that usually meant they'd been up to something obnoxious.
"What the hell did you do?" Kyo mumbled through a yawn. They giggled, but didn't offer much.
"Have a nice nap?" Die asked, then snorted again in laughter.
"What did you do?" Kyo repeated. He was starting to get annoyed. He rubbed his eye sleepily, and when his eye came back black, he fixed his bandmates with a furious look. "I am going to kill you." He stood and stalked over to a mirror and peered at himself.
Kyo scowled. Whiskers had been drawn on his cheeks, and an upside down triangle blackened his nose. Big round circles were drawn around his eyes, like a racoon. "I'm gonna kill them," he muttered. He grabbed a washcloth and set to work trying to wash Die's "art" off his face.
