2. Love
Based on the characters created by Dan Schneider
So, I'm out of practice with Seddie (Fram?) I haven't written any in months... BUT, I started back on the whole 100 Theme challenge thing... Never mind, I'm not posting anything but the better ones here anyway... You can go read ALL of them on my DA, though! Maddie-the-Cattie. deviantart .com (Minus the spaces)
Disclaimers: Are stupid on a site called Fan-Fiction. (Besides, *points up*)
Also, feel free to build on this little thing here. Just link me to it, and be sure to give credit where credit's due.
When you look at Sam Puckett, your first impressions are quite altered from what the reality of the reasons behind her behavior really is... When you look at Sam Puckett, everyone's favorite blond-headed wild-child, some of the first words that come to your mind might be: Crazy... Selfish... Greedy... Disobedient... Rude... Yeah, you get the picture... Another word that you might think of, but certainly not the least relevant, is: Hateful.
Now, let's look at her relation to one of her best friends, Freddie Benson... You can't help but feel sorry for him. I mean, he's so nice, smart, polite and calm... He doesn't deserve what that little demon Sam does to him; always abusing him, lashing out at him with either sharp remarks or painful blows. And on a day-to-day basis, too! And normally, with no meaning at all behind it... He's just her punching bag (Or so it seems...)...
But let's say God granted you the ability to read Sam's mind... You might find there's much more to it than meets the eye...
We all know Freddie has felt something... Well, more, for his best friend, Carly Shay. Sam knows this, too. But what about her? … How does she feel? (You might want to sit down for this...) You might be surprised to learn that Sam does love Freddie; With all her heart.
Would you be surprised, now holding that knowledge, that that is the motive behind how she treats Freddie?
As I said before... Sam knows that Freddie loves Carly. Poor Sam... how would you feel if you were in love with someone, and, everyday, you had to watch from the sidelines, as he (Or she) was chasing someone else? Imagine how this young girl, Sam, must feel-Feeling the true sting of love everyday... And to make matters worse? From her two best friends.
Are you surprised to learn that that isn't the motive behind her actions? (Are you ready for me to stop beating around the bush and get to point already?)
The whole reason Sam treats Freddie the way she does is so he won't have to feel torn between herself and Carly. Every time she punches him in the arm, she realizes she's causing him physical pain-Of course! But for every punch, every little bit of pain... She's letting him off with so much less than he realizes. For every insult, she takes so much more weight off his shoulders...
But, boy, does this take a toll on her... Imagine if you knew, due to the way you acted, that the one person you loved beyond belief had such a disdainful loathing for you... Imagine that you knew you never had a shot with him (Her?) because of what you did, even if it was for good reasons... I wonder if her friends know that she can often be found just crying in her room, thinking that its all too much to bear... If only they knew...
So, perhaps what I'm trying to say is... Next time you see Sam on any episode of iCarly, or maybe even walking the streets of your town, don't look down on her because of how she's come across towards Freddie... Know that the reason she treats him the way she does is because of love, never hate.
And, to me, to sacrifice so much for the person you love is the truest, purest form there is, no matter how hateful, in this case, it may seem.
