Author's note: I wanted to write something for Remus/Tonks and Lily Luna/Teddy. This follows my mate theory, but not any of my other stories.

Summary: A young Tonks meets Remus for the first time. The eighteen year old werewolf feels a need to protect the young five year old, but he doesn't understand why.

"Oh I can't wait for you guys to meet my cousin's! I've only met Nymphadora once, but she was awesome. She's a Metamorphmagus! Oh and don't call her Nymphadora, she hates it." Sirius said as he lead his friends, Remus, James and Lily (Peter wasn't with them today) to the front door of the Tonks' home. Lily was really excited to meet the little girl, and Sirius was really happy to have family that didn't hate his guts.

Once Sirius knocked on the door, it didn't take long for the door to open. A man and a woman stood in the door way. The woman smiled at them. "Sirius! Please come in, these must be your friends! I hope one of you is Moony, Nymphadora loves to hear stories about this Moony character from Sirius, even if she only met Sirius once." Remus sent Sirius a glare, which he ignored. The man held out his hand too everyone, "I'm Ted Tonks. Nice too meet you all."

"Nymphadora! Sirius and his friends are here." Andromeda called up the stairs. "Mother, don't call me that name!" called a young voice, Andromeda just rolled her eye. "Lets got to the sitting room." Andromeda said once she turned back to them.

It wasn't long after they sat down in the sitting room that a young girl in pigtails with pink hair came into the room. Once she saw Sirius, her eyes lit up.

"Sirius!" She yelled before she run over and hugged him.

Sirius smiled, "it's good to see you too, Tonks." He said. Andromeda glared at her cousin. Her daughter did have a first name after all.

"Tonks, these are my friends, Prongs, Lily and Moony." Her eyes landed on Moony.

"So you're Moony?" Remus nodded his head. For some reason he had this strange urge to protect her from everything, almost like one would a little sister. He felt as if he had to take her away from the war and hid her, to keep her safe from everyone, even himself if he had to. It scared him. She's your future mate…. a voice in the back of his brain said. What, that couldn't be true, there was no such thing as werewolf mates, right?

"Its nice to meet you, Nymphadora. I'm Remus Lupin." He said, holding out his hand for her to shake it. Dora's hair and face went red before she took his hand. "Hello Remus. It's also nice to meet you." She said, her hair and cheeks going even redder.

"Hey, how come he can call you that, but the first time I called you Nymphadora I was kick in th- OUCH!" Cried Sirius, before he rubbed his shin, right where Tonks kicked him.

"Don't call me, Nymphadora!" She said, trying to seem scary, but Remus thought it made her look adorable. (He kept this thought to himself, he didn't really want to be kicked in the shins) Once they left later that day, Sirius picked on Remus, saying that he knew that he would be part of the family one day.

From that day on, Tonks promised herself that she would marry Remus Lupin, even if she had only met him once, she knew that she was in love with him. Years later, when they met again, Remus was surprised with how much she had grown, with how beautiful she was, no matter what form she was in. After their deaths, they watched their son as he too felt the need to protect Lily Luna Potter, and the sister-brother love turned into pure love.

"At least Ted isn't as stubborn as his father." Tonks said once Teddy kissed Lily for the first time. Remus smiled sadly, and said, "But he'll do anything to protect her."
