Someone at jdbfangirlharem mentioned a 'Twas the Night Before Christmas' theme challenge (goblin style - or something like that) then someone else joked about Sarah being gift wrapped for the Goblin King. Well, this is what popped in my head.

T'was A Goblin's Christmas

T'was the night before Christmas and all through the castle, every creature was stirring, each and every rascal. The Goblin King lounged upon his throne not quite debonair, with one leg over an arm, and the other magically in the air. He pinched the bridge of his nose while the goblins ran about, "Jingle bells, jingle bells, la, la, la la!" they ceaselessly would shout. He hung his head way back to stare at the ceiling in despair, lollypops and truffles were stuck to the stone way up there. It was a mess to be certain, a royal pain in the ass. And, just when he thought this night couldn't get worse, a goblin passed some gas.

The Goblin King cleared out the stench, as he jumped up off his rump. "I've had it with this holiday! I don't care if you think me a grump!" He threw a crystal ball to make the tree fall to it's side, gaining a stab of remorse when the goblins started to cry. "And, why would I appreciate this day full of cheer?" he asked his humble servants with his lips drawn back in a sneer. "I don't get anything from it, I haven't for years!"

The goblins huddled together, whispering amongst themselves, peering over their shoulders with snickers and perked up ears. "Whatever you're conspiring, keep it to yourselves. I don't give a damn about Christmas, Yuletide, or Wish-wells!" He grumpily stalked back to his throne when a commotion made him stop. Turning around slowly, he peered at his back, to find all his goblins surrounding a big, red sack. "What is this thing that I see?"

"It is a present from us to thee!"

The Goblin King perked up, a smile on his face. "You dear little goblins, getting something for me!" With anxious excitement he leapt towards the sack, pulled on the ribbon, and then promptly jumped back. "Oh, no, this won't do."

"Why not, King? We give present to you!"

His heart tore asunder with both delight and regret as his mismatched eyes befell those of someone he'd once met. "I pray you to forgive them, they know not what they do."

"I believe it is simple," she said. "They gift wrapped me for you."

He staggered back a full step, and then two more, as she smiled up at him and let the sack drop to the floor. Her hair was adorned with silver, to match the thin gown she wore. Her eyes shone like emeralds, her cheeks blushed red, and she laughed as he swore.

"I wish you a Merry Christmas, Jareth. Tonight and forever more." She approached him boldly, her expression wise and mature.

"I wish all a Merry Christmas. And, to all a very good night." And, with a flick of his wrist they vanished from sight.

And the goblins danced joyfully, singing, 'Jingle bells, jingle bells, la, la, la, la, la!' when suddenly their wondering ears did hear, the jingle jangle of sleigh bells strapped to eight tiny reindeer. They ran to the windows, some fell through the hole, to see St. Nick, that jolly ole soul. They waved up at him with glee, and he waved back in kind, showering the kingdom with presents for every goblin to find.

The End

(I should know better than to write with a little buzz. Oh, well, I hope you enjoyed it anyway. Happy Holidays!)
