Megamind stood alone, in front of the broken mirror in his now empty lair. Green eyes studied the reflection, his hand hovering over his watch.

The form that looked back was far too familiar. Long limbs, skinny frame, leather clad, big head, blue skin- this was the appearance of an alien, something not normal.

Now a newer face appeared. Young, messy hair, round glasses, formally dressed. He was an attractive, well off man, the type who would blend in.

Bernard.

Who he was and what he looked like instantly isolated him from the people in this world. His choice to be a villain even further severed the social tie.

Click.

But no one questioned this man. He was exactly what he appeared. Not even a nosy reporter could tell the difference.

Click.

The villain Metro City has come to fear would never be able to even go out in public without causing mild chaos.

Click.

When he looked like this though, he could do anything he wanted. Ride bikes, read in the library, lay on the grass in the park holding hands with a beautiful woman...

Click.

Could he ever be accepted this way? Was there any going back, even after all the evil he's done? Even for him it was odd to think of, but what he told Minion was partly true- he didn't want to be evil anymore.

Click.

At least, not after tasting what it was like to be good, and normal. After all, didn't Roxanne accept him instantly in this human form?

Click.

Roxanne... If she ever found out he was tricking her... He didn't know what he would do if that happened. Pray for her understanding? Hope that she realized that he really was the man she had gotten to know over the past couple of weeks?

Click.

That was a fool's hope. She would take one look at him and... what? Scream? Run?

Click.

No. He wouldn't let that happen. He couldn't. For once, he had everything he ever wanted. He wouldn't ruin it this time.

Click.

Bernard's face looked back at him with grim determination. He adjusted his jacket and ran a hand through his hair.

This time, he wouldn't fail. This time, for once, the bad guy would get the girl.

Pocketing the keys for the invisible car, Bernard stole one last glance in the mirror before hurrying out of the room. After all, he and Roxanne had a dinner date tonight, and he wanted everything to go just perfectly.

This came out of the idea of there being those two dueling essences of Bernard and Megamind, both being confined in one body, and the turmoil Megamind would face because of it. I think he would really struggle between the two personas, because even though he could be himself, he also has the choice of being a human and getting everything he never had.

I hope the way it's written wasn't too confusing! In case it didn't make much sense, with each click, Megamind was switching his appearance from himself to Bernard, and every time he did, the point of view kind of changed. Review, please!
