Chapter 1: Prologue

It was the year 1881. The Paris Opera was experiencing another one of its recent tragedies. The soprano Christine Daae was taken by the Opera Ghost and down into his lair. Meanwhile, Raoul and a police chief known as the Persian were tracking down the Phantom.
In the Phantom's lair, Christine was forced to wear a wedding gown.
"Erik please." Christine begged with tears rolling down her cheeks.
"No Christine! That was the last straw! I knew of your plans to go to England with Raoul! You couldn't have just told me no to my proposal? Were you really in such a rush where you couldn't give me a reply? Now because of you, your damned lover will suffer!"
"What are you talking about? Raoul doesn't know the way down here!"
"He could find it. Do you really doubt his love for you? That's so unromantic of you Christine. Raoul would withstand the tortures of the damned to have you in his arms."
"He doesn't know the way."
Suddenly, a bell rang. Erik ran to a window and saw that Raoul and the Persian had made it into one of his torture chambers. Erik laughed manically at the two men. The Phantom pulled a lever which caused the room to brighten and create intolerable heat.
"See Christine, I told you Raoul would suffer the tortures of the damned!" Erik laughed.
"Erik please! I'll marry you, I'll even give birth to your child if you end this! Please Erik!"
"No Christine. Like how you are with spiders, I am afraid of Raoul, even though I shouldn't be. You showed me that killing other creatures in fear is right!"
"Erik! Stop this!" the Persian yelled out.
"You're killing them Erik! Please stop it!" Christine cried.
Erik's horrifying grin turned into a frown. Christine wasn't pleased. Erik you know you're better than this. Its quite low of you! Its not their fault that love was shunned from you.
Erik pushed the lever which turned off the torture mechanism. The window slowly rose to give Raoul and the Persian enough room to get out. Christine and Raoul held each other tightly. When Christine pulled away from Raoul, Erik was not in the room.
"Wait here." Christine told Raoul.
Christine found Erik in her bedroom. Examining her clothing. Erik turned around.
"What are you waiting for Christine, go! Be happy." Erik's voice was filled with sadness.
Christine walked towards Erik and kissed him. It lasted a long time, until Erik pulled away.
"No Christine, go and be happy."
Christine left the room. Erik made sure that Raoul, the Persian and Christine had all left the lair. Erik broke one of his mirrors and entered another room with a coffin...
Two years later, Raoul was killed. Christine had to support their child on her own. Christine never married again and lived to be fifty years old. She died in the year 1915.
In the 21st century, rumors began to spread of a vampire in Paris, killing numerous individuals.
