Someday Dreamer

She never got to tell him.

I-Pin's infatuation begins when she's five. Young and naive with as much innocence that a child raised to be a professional assassin could have. It's like a fairytale moment when it happens. Love at first sight when I-Pin sees him sleeping on the hospital bed. Of course, I-Pin being I-Pin, doesn't tell anyone of her feelings. She suspects Tsuna knows. Half the reason because he is always prepared to hurl her into the sky whenever she saw Hibari and the other half because the 10th boss seems to know everything.

It was a family thing. Hyper intuition, is it?

I-Pin's suspicions become true when her 14 year old self is sat down by the Vongola's current boss one day.

"He's not the type to be attached to someone", Tsuna says. His bright eyes have dulled. I-Pin thinks that maybe that's because everyone he loves, who he cherishes, are dying.

Tsuna is not fit to be a mafia boss. Not at all fit.

Her response is swift and vengeful to his blunt statement. "I know, Vongola-san", I-Pin says sweetly. She notices with sadistic pleasure that the tenth Vongola boss strong shoulders have weakened because a cherished person has reminded him of his duties. She wants to see it again, so I-Pin continues. She will regret it later, but for now, she believes he deserves it.

"It isn't like ten years ago". I-Pin watches with morbid satisfaction to see Tsuna hurt. Good. Because I am. I am too.

How dare he try to destroy her hopes. He had no right.

"I realize what I'm doing".

I-Pin looks down at her hands now. Her knuckles are a stark white as she grasps tightly to her ramen delivery girl uniform. She's been working at the ramen place for three months now, and still can't seem to get the hang of it. It was hard trading in a black suit for a white fast food outfit. She was getting there though. Her compulsion to leap and attack whenever she hears a loud noise like her boss's booming voice has died down. Her habit of always being extremely jumpy of the people around her when she's walking down the street is almost gone.

She's a normal girl now.

Being a normal girl means being a monster.

Was she always this horrible when it came to the skylark, she wonders.

I-Pin watches as Tsuna calms himself down by slurping up the delicious noodles she's brought with her to their secret underground base.

(it may be secret, but Tsuna knows I-Pin won't stab him in the back. he's too trusting like that. unknowingly welcoming spies into the Vongola family. that is why everyone is dying. )

"I-Pin", he says. The tiny China doll looks at him straight in the eye. "You won't regret it?"

He sees her clear black eyes filled with enough resolve to open dozens of boxes, her naturally heart-shaped face which has almost lost all its baby fat, and her thin stick-like body that's on the precipice of adulthood.

I-Pin nods.

"Ok", Tsuna says.

I-Pin waits for him to finish eating before saying good bye to go to Mr. Kawashima's.
