Alex got home exhausted, and all she wanted to do was curl up in bed with Olivia. It had just been one of those days.

"Hey, Alex," called Olivia from the family room. "Come sit with me."

Alex sighed and hung up her coat. She went into the family room and stood awkwardly a few feet away from Olivia, suddenly uncomfortable.

"Hard day?" asked Olivia.

Alex nodded and didn't say anything.

"Leave work at work. Now it's just the two of us."

Alex smiled ruefully. "Easier said than done."

Olivia's eyes were full of pain. She held out her arms and Alex walked into them, melting into Olivia's warm embrace. Olivia sat down and pulled Alex onto her lap. She gently rubbed Alex's back, soothing her tense muscles and pressing intermittent kisses on the crown of her head. She didn't say anything, but Alex didn't need her to. She was there for Alex. Alex knew that, and it was enough.
