A/N. I'm in the middle of writing another long chaptered CSI:NY story, but these little oneshots and shorts keep popping up instead.
This one is particularly sappy, so if you don't like the last ten minutes of most chick flicks, look away… now.

"I love you."

Adam's expression was stricken. A mixture of hope and dread in his eyes.

"You can't." The statement was whispered, but Adam may as well have shouted it; the sentiment stung at Danny's heart all the same. They stood for a moment; the few feet between them seeming like miles. To Adam's surprise, Danny began to smile softly.

"Alright science boy," Danny was smirking now. "Why don't you come to your own conclusion?" Adam looked confused as Danny took a small step towards him.

"I love the way you steal my foot with yours in the middle of the night, because you want to respect my space but can't stand to be apart from me."

Adam smiled. Danny took another step forward.

"I love how you try so hard to stay mad, even when you don't remember why you're upset. And I love that you never succeed."

Adam ducked his head. Danny smiled.

"I love that you've started wearing cherry lip balm to work, because you know I can't resist kissing you when you wear it."

Adam blushed.

"I definitely love the way you blush. That I can do that to you amazes me."

Adam looked up. Danny looked serious.

"Most of all, I love how you come home with me every night. How you curl up next to me on the sofa, and kiss me like I deserve you. That you never question my past, and trust me not to question yours. And when I'm on a hard case, the only thing that keeps me going is the thought of coming home to you."

Adam looked like he wanted to say something, but he could see Danny wasn't finished. Slowly, Danny walked closer to Adam; stopping when they were inches apart.

"So tell me," Danny's expression was intense, and somewhat desperate. "How can I feel all these things for you, and not be in love with you?" Adam searched Danny's eyes; a soft smile crawling to his lips when he realised how stupid his fear had been. The smile Danny gave in return was blinding, and Adam didn't hesitate to lean forward and kiss him.

"I love you too," Adam whispered as they parted. Danny swept his knuckles over Adam's cheek gently; smile still in place.

"I never doubted it."

The End.
