Hello all! Miss me? It's been awhile I would say. Anyway, I finally did it. I saw Endgame and it gave me exuberant amounts of feels and I had to finish this fic. 9 years in the making. Some of the things in this fic haven't aged well and I might tweak a few of the chapters someday (I don't want to make this about politics but, I'm sure you are aware whose name would be taken out of this fic, someone whom I do not care one bit for.)

Anyway I hope you enjoy this final chapter.

No hate, just love, feel free to leave a review!

I love you guys 3000.

Disclaimer: I do not own Marvel or Disney or any characters mentioned.

Chapter 6: Someday, Over the Rainbow

The rain had cleared up finally, seemingly happening off and on for the past 6 weeks. Pepper had thought she was going to lose her mind, but Tony had made sure it stayed intact. He was a constant companion, never over stepping his bounds as much as he liked to tease about doing so.

He had learned so much in that short time.

Pepper literally was his world. She kept everything that was Stark Industries together. He was merely the 'Mickey Mouse' or figure head of the company. He hadn't realized how much she actually did until he tried to do it himself.

She truly was something.

Tony smiled to himself as he rested his chin on his hand. She had rescued him from himself countless times thus far. This was the least he could do for her, after all.

'Ding!'

The microwave chimed and he glanced over at it, seeing smoke. "God damn it. Jarvis-"

"Sir?"

"Why didn't you stop the microwave when the popcorn was ready?" Tony rushed over to it and opened it up, pulling out the blackened bag.

"You were the one who set the timer, Sir."

"Well, why did you let me do that? Couldn't you see I was a bit preoccupied?"

"With Miss Potts party?"

"Party is a bit of an exaggeration but yes, yes her party. And parties cannot start themselves."

"I am aware, Sir." The A.I. snarked back.

"Oh are you? Because I'm still holding burnt popcorn-"

Someone cleared their throat and Tony turned to see Pepper had made her way into the kitchen.

"Is something on fire?" She asked eyeing the bag of popcorn he was holding.

He stared at Pepper a moment, mouth agape before glancing back at the popcorn bag in his left hand. "Shit." He threw the popcorn bag into the sink and dosed it with water.

Pepper raised her eyebrows with an amused look on her face. "I thought I showed you there's a button for popcorn."

"And I thought you were seeing a doctor."

He looked back at her and then down at her foot which looked back to normal only she was wearing flats instead of heels.

"Clean bill of health. Seems I've been released of your care, Mr. Stark." Pepper smiled.

Tony couldn't help but smile back. "Right, so that means you'll be wanting this back." He pulled her Blueberry out of his pocket and tossed it to her.

She caught it and looked down at it. "What did you-"

"Did a couple of upgrades, it's Stark tech. It's got a transparent screen feature, HD clarity, location tracker, emojis -"

"Location tacker?"

"It's green, runs on clean energy, camera, face recognition, free iTunes- oh! Just don't drop it in the pool, it's only water proof up to a certain point."

"Tony..."

"So the location thing was a bit much, I'll make sure to disable it okay?"

Pepper raised an eyebrow, "Really?"

"Really. Cross my heart." He motioned his hand in an X over the arch reactor in his chest.

He noticed their proximity to each other. They were standing rather close to one another now and neither of them were breaking eye contact. He must have moved forward while they had been talking. Pepper must have noticed this as well as she was the first to retreat, lowering her gaze and laughing slightly. He smiled wider, gazing at her. Her laugh was charming, enough to make his heart skip a beat.

"Uhhh so why popcorn?" She looked back up at him.

He blinked, still lost in her allure. He had to tear himself away to focus long enough to answer. "Huh?"

That wasn't much of an answer.

"The burnt popcorn."

He pressed his lips together and shook his head slightly. "Oh right." He raised his eyebrows. "Failed experiment."

"Really?"

"Yeah, just went awry."

"Uh-huh."

He shrugged.

"But why did Jarvis tell me you wanted to see me after my appointment?"

He backed up slightly, "Uh, Jarvis must have been mistaken." He turned and walked forward so to be in the open space between the kitchen and the living room.

"I was not, Sir." Came a reply from JARVIS.

"This doesn't concern you." He replied looking upward. Tony quickly turned back around to face Pepper, spinning on his heel and moving slightly to the side. He looked rather nervous.

Pepper noticed. "What's going on?"

"Nothing, nothing's going on? Why would there be something going on?" He backed up some more, into the living room.

"You're acting like something is going on."

"Am I? I think you have been watching way too many crime dramas." He replied.

Pepper was about to retort when she finally saw what he had been hiding from her. Now it was her turn to hold her mouth open. "Oh my god."

Tony grimaced hoping it was a good 'oh my god' and not a bad 'oh my god.' That one was interchangeable with her. He turned back to face what he had done. "I wasn't finished." He walked forward and gestured towards the sign he had hang up. "It's a bit rough, I planned on more but Jarvis didn't tell me you were coming or stall you like I thought we had agreed on."

"Oh no he tried to stall me. It just didn't work." Pepper said, looking around at his handy work.

The sign hanging from the ceiling had written on it 'Welcome back, Miss Potts' with a few balloons hanging around it. There was a bowl of chips and salsa sitting on the coffee table and on the TV was the menu screen for the 'Wizard of Oz'.

He looked at her and looked back at what he had done, then back at her. He could swear he hadn't felt this nervous in forever. He really shouldn't be this nervous! Did her opinion really matter this much to him?

"Tony...It's perfect." She nodded approvingly.

He grinned, nerves melting away to contentment. She liked it...she actually liked it.

He cleared his throat and gestured to the couch, "You may take your seat now, Miss Potts."

She smiled and walked in front of the couch sitting down. Pepper grinned up at him as he came around the couch and sat down next to her.

"Ah, yes. Your coffee, chips, salsa. There would have been popcorn but, the popcorn guy is a bit of a klutz. Jarvis, start the movie."

The movie started and Tony looked over at Pepper.

She had a look of serenity on her face, one he could look at forever. He wanted to put his arm around her, he wanted to hold her and keep her safe, to brush the bit of hair that had came lose from her bun and put it behind her ear. He was longing for those moments, but he would wait. Just to sit here with her, to be near her, that was enough. It wasn't time yet for him and Pepper to be a couple, but he knew there would be time. Tony didn't want to mess this up. He wanted it to last. He had a feeling about Pepper Potts. He would tell her, someday. But for now that moment was over the rainbow and for now he would just enjoy the ride.

"Thank you, Mr. Stark."

"You're welcome, Miss Potts."
